Hello everyone,

This is my version of the Starminx III
It was originally made by Andrew Cormier, this is a different version with a different mechanism. I'd like to thank Andrew for allowing me to make this puzzle and publish it. I will not sell this one for now, I don't want to do so without his authorization.

The puzzle catches a bit, like his version, and it's very smooth once the move is engaged. I haven't lubed it in a month now, because shapeways was missing 2 pieces and I was too impatient to wait
I'm quite happy with the results it looks nice and Oliver cut me some great stickers

Andrew showed us only one type of jumbling on his video, which I call 'big jumbling' but the 'small jumbling' also exists. You can see that in the video and pictures.

Oh my. This is gorgeous. The starminx puzzles are my definite favorite. Hopefully, permission will be granted for it to be sold, for this is one beautiful puzzle. Such a nice size too!

Real cool, looks very complicated. Now what about an edge-turning starminx? (these square sections turning)

That would be too costly as it has to be very big to allow psace for the mechanism :/ (Drew made it huge but almost smallest for the mechanism)

Wow awesome looking puzzle!

I found a new type of post-jumbling jumbling, even smaller than before:

EDIT: there's another sort of post-jumbling jumbling with two pieces only and a 5th one with the big jumbling minus 2 pieces etc... I think there's around 9 types of jumbling or more but I'm tired of updating them they come along as I discover them

EDIT2: I found 1,2,3,4,5,7,13,15,16,17,18,19 and 20 piece jumblings I think that's it, so I'd say 13 types of jumbling including 2 natural and 11 post-jumble jumbles.

I have a question.
It seems this puzzle has underlying pieces (apart from the shells mech). This leads to me thinking that an interesting shapemod could be made. I dont know which one would be the most attractive one, but the first that comes to my mind is an Icosahedron.
Have you concidered shapemods? If so, which one would you think would be the most interesting one, solving wise?

For better turning, less catching and a smaller puzzle, I had to skip a few pieces on each shell, so shapemods aren't possible unless I make it bigger.

These are the pieces I skipped:

I was waited for this puzzle to be showed since I have cut the stickers for it.
I thought there will be some differences.

Also, have all classic(i.e. one type of planar cut) Starminxes been made?
