Neat, but a bit pricy... $36? I'm on the fence about ordering it.

Oh, and it doesn't even have the right color scheme.

$36 is a bit low in this case. It's another of those puzzles that needs many sliders and a lot of work to put together. As for the color scheme....If you think about it, you'll know why it's wrong.

My understanding is that Uwe will not be selling this on his website. It is ONLY being offered in the Jade Club, and....Calvin isn't selling it either (correct me if I'm wrong here-it was a very quick phone call last night). So yeah, if $36 is high. Don't cry later when you can't find one. Oh, or better yet...Go to Oskar's Shapeways shop. $241.75 seems pretty cheap to me.

I am kind of disappointed that this is for jade club members only. I am not, and I wanted this puzzle. I would remove the tiles and put on stickers myself though.

Anyone want to invite me I suppose?

well I am a jade member now, with one invite (man these go fast)

Hi Rox, I'd buy one for $36, but I'm not a member, and to tell the truth I don't think it would justify another $18 at $54. It would be fun for the kids to solve if you put a chocolate in the centre or something..

I don't get the colour scheme thing (and I am aware that if the white face had the lid it would fall off after the F2L on a layers method :P ). I don't understand why it's not a Red White Blue format though either..

Personally I'd like it if the whole cube disassembled after the final turn 8-)

Cheers,
Burgo.

You don't have to buy the jade puzzle for $18 to become a member - you can be a non-paid up member which still lets you buy other available puzzles at a 10% discount so there really isn't a reason not to be a member.

However if i recall correctly (the information is gone since i signed up fully a while ago) it did mention that there would be exclusive opportunities for paid up members only - but whether the Treasure Chest is only available to paid members i don't know - still worth your while to sign up (for free) and find out though.

I ordered the black one on JadesClub.org along with an orange Crazy 3x3x3. I'm glad they finally fixed the Paypal cart so that you can order multiple items without placing separate orders. That should save Meffert some dough on shipping.

I'm so glad they decided to manufactured this puzzle. Here's hoping it works a lot better than that bloated Rubik's Bank from last year. :P

I still don't know about this JadeClub thing. It still feels like a cook kids club with this invite only system. I wouldn't mind paying a fee to get these very exclusive puzzle.

I tried to go on to JadeClub.org and pay my way in, but you need an invite to that too. How can you justify turning away people that are whiling to pay, while having non-paying members?

Wow, I feel so lucky! This is so cool. I think it focus on the jadeclub because the club members are "pro" puzzlers and knows that this isn't just a regular 3x3, but it is a 3x3 with ingenious design.

Thank you Uwe Meffert, and Oskar!

Wow! I'm so glad that this has finally been mass-produced- great work yet again!

I have a few problems though - Why is it being sold
(1) Only in very limited numbers, and
(2) Only through Jade Club?

I am a Jader myself, so I have no problems there, but I can't think why this is being sold in such limited numbers. Surely this is going to be more than popular enough to merit being MASS-produced (as opposed to just mass-produced)?

Meh, whatever. Maybe there is a plan to sell it in larger numbers somewhere down the line. I'll order it now anyway :D

(PS, notice no complaints about the price? I think $36 is a steal!)

I think when they create these *new* puzzles, they take a gamble with mass producing the product. At least they can gauge with the number of jadeclub members how many people are interested. If 80-90% are interested, they can go further into production. But if 20-30% are interested, they know it might not be something they want to pursue.

Me personally, I can't wait for this cube! Being a teacher, I thought about a great idea to pass around the cube to my students that don't know how to do it. Find the usb, sign their name in a file and then pass it off to another student.

Steal? It's worth way more than 36$ :? . They only mass produce in small quantity cause they loose money, by just mass producing it.

OK, I might have misused the phrase. I meant to say that I think $36 is an absurdly good price- so cheap that we are practically stealing it.

I do think that it is cool but I cannot stand the tiles used.
They look cheap and tacky in my opinion.

Please Mefferts make some with your awesome fluorescent labels.

I don't really mind about the tiles- I think they look quite like the Qubami's tiles (which I think are neat :))

But is it possible to "pop" them off with a knife or something? Because if so then you could always replace them with whatever stickers YOU want (even if they won't be mefferts ones... I think that one of the crazy cubes (4x4 II?) had really thick tiles that, when removed, left obvious indentations that could not be covered with a sticker. I do hope this won't be like that.

  So cool! I love the color scheme on the white body, to me, that really stood out. The price (from what I hear) is great too considering it is much much cheaper than the original price on Shapeways. Now I wish I were in the Jade Club, I'm missing out on so many great puzzles and deals, (and I've always wondered what it like)

I doubt it would be easy to pop them out with a knife, cause Rox said (for the 3oth anniverseray pyraminx), that the tiles were glued with a ver very very sticky glue.

And Robert, the tiles are suppose to be very very good quality so. Yeah the mosaic look of it look's like the cheap stickers, but those are tiles.

I have PM'ed Jack Lopez an invite. Figured I'd post so his inbox doesn't become filled with other messages.

Is this the same USB drive that comes with Mefferts 30th anniversery Pyaminx? Same content on the USB?

Most awesome news since the Starminx, which wasn't even that long ago! I ordered 2 right away: one for myself and one as a gift

And does anybody know if the white version has a white side?
I always wish the white puzzles had black faces instead of white ones.

White on top of white is really "dull", IMHO.

There are no white stickers. They are silver.

And no one has them yet because the treasure for the inside of the chest is not yet complete. Give it a bit. If you hunt around on YouTube you may find a video about them though.

There are no white stickers. They are silver.

And no one has them yet because the treasure for the inside of the chest is not yet complete. Give it a bit. If you hunt around on YouTube you may find a video about them though.

The treasure inside is not the usb stick?

Like on the Jadeclub it say: "Free Anniversary 4GB Intel USB, regular price US$18.00, which includes around 100MB of special puzzle info. Treasure which is only available inside the Gift cube Free and cannot be bought."

I've ordered the Gift Cube but not the Mefferts 30th anniversery Pyaminx. So I'm still curious if there was content on that USB drive that wont be on this one.
