I know the fourth one! Can we tease the forum by not saying what it is, but could you give a little review of it's quality?

That's good to hear. Looks like this'll be my next puzzle after my Offset Skewb 2x2x2 (which is after a special Eitan puzzle) .

I was very lucky to receive this puzzle today! When I began collecting, I made a list of five puzzles that I one day hoped to own, and I have finally crossed the last off my list. It is a custom made Ghost Cube, by cubervietnam's friend. The cube's quality is outstanding. Without futher ado, enjoy the pictures!

I just recieved my fourth pre-1980 blue boxed Rubik's cube, so that makes four this week! One more on the way, but I was just too proud of this line-up to not post it here! Attachment:

From left to right: One Hungarian Politechnika box, which says Bűvös kocka One Hungarian Politoys box, which says Bűvös kockaOne German Politoys box, which says E Rubik Magic cubeOne Hungarian Politoys box which says E Rubik KockaSo although the boxes may look similar, they all have something different. As for the cubes, I'm pretty sure the one in the politechnika box is fake, since the insides of the cube looks way too new. A previous owner has clearly tried (and failed) so solve the puzzle by displacing stickers, making the cube impossible to solve... The other ones are fine, and might just be the ones that originally came in that box. But a lot can happen in 32-34 years.

In the window in the egg there are 5 different segments/bars each of which can be rotated through 10 different positions (only one of which shows red) by twisting the bottom of the egg. Which segments move depends on which of the 3 settings the button on the side of the egg is on (the button is just visible on the left of the egg in the 2nd picture above) The goal is to get all 5 red bars in the window which causes a weight to drop in the egg so that you can balance it on its end as i tried to show in the 2nd picture above but got the perspective wrong, so here is a (slightly) better picture: Attachment:

Hope this explains it well enough for you!

This is Dylan's Mini Icosahedron 3x3x3 puzzle. The quality of the puzzle exceeds EVERY expectations I had. It is made from a high quality DIY 3x3x3. I was B-lown away looking at the capping work. Its outstanding. The size of this puzzle is perfect! The turning of this puzzle is perfect! It fits in my collection like perfect!!! (btw. These pictures do not do this puzzle justice. look at Dylan's thread for high quality pictures). Me holding it Attachment:

A few items I picked up at IPP. I didn't go crazy, but focused on getting a few gems. First up, the rare Panex. Credit goes to Geert for pointing it out to me, and the seller was willing to trade for a few Elementals Next we have a simultaneous motion puzzle by Vinco. Not Twisty, but so beautiful I had to share: Last (but by no means least) something I've wanted for a long time: I am a big fan of hand modifications. Don't get me wrong: 3D design and printing are great, but the craftsmanship of high quality hand builds is amazing. I also happen to love dodecahedrons. Having a piece built by Anthony Greenhills was something I always wanted for my collection, and so meeting him in person and knowing he had a dodecahedron available was... irresistible. It finds a fitting home on my shelf with Tony's work. Enjoy (I will), Dave

I arrived home today to find 3 packages waiting for me One was a trade with Juanan - puzzles are perfect, i'm very happy, Thank You Juanan!! Attachment:
DSCN1927.JPG [ 1.13 MiB | Viewed 9277 times ]
A mini cross cube to complete my set of these puzzles A white Meffert's Egg And a Meffert's Jing's Pyraminx - finally got an original one and it really turns much better than the KO i had unknowingly bought. The second package was of puzzles rare for now - the Dioctipoid's V1.0 and V2.0 - in fact these are the first sale of these puzzles ever (these are the ones i won on ebay a few days before i placed the order for people outside Europe) Attachment:
DSCN1924.JPG [ 1.1 MiB | Viewed 9277 times ]
Both puzzles are beautiful! I think 1.0 looks nicer but 2.0 is harder to solve I'll be posting a link to an unpacking video if it ever loads! And the third package had a puzzle i've been searching for for a long time and finally won Attachment:
DSCN1925.JPG [ 1.2 MiB | Viewed 9277 times ]
Now all i have to do is solve it! All in all a pretty good puzzle day so much for having a puzzle clear-out though!

Quote: It is thought that the optimal solution of Panex needs more than 31000 moves. The Japanese collector whom I bought it from did solve it (the Silver version), but it took him 2 months, an hour a day. So... no speed solving competitions for Panex then I guess? I'm not sure I have the patience to see the JavaScript on that page solve this one. How long does that take? Carl

I'm back from my vacation, and am proud to make my first post in this thread! *beaming* So, while looking at my great-aunt's shelves of stuff (her house would be messy, except it's very organized. every wall is lined with shelves and every shelf is full), I found an Alexander's Star! (I asked her and she let me have it. No shady business here) It's in pretty bad shape (I prefer to call it "well-loved"), with an almost rubbed-off logo ("AL DER'S"), a missing yellow-white piece, and peeled stickers (but no missing stickers). Also, since my first name actually is Alexander, now it actually is Alexander's Star. Ohohohoho. I guess this wasn't really a "package just arrived", but it did have a rare puzzle that I recently acquired, so... this post!

3 packages arrived this week, all 3 containing cilinders: Attachment:

Left to right: Sealed Rubik's Revenge from 1981/1982 (label and base say different dates) Sealed Politoys Magic Domino from 1982 SmaZ' Dino Cilinder. Not as rare as the other two, but it makes for a nice line-up.

A few days ago, I have received a fully functional, proportional 3x3x5 from christian b Quote: He has offered it here. He has described, how he had made it here. To me this puzzle looks quite flawless and the shapeshifting adds a nice touch, compared with the cubic 3x3x5.

Beautiful picture Konrad! I wish I could say the same for this picture of all the rare puzzles I got over the summer. Well, the puzzles aren't all that rare, but in combination with the packaging, they are Attachment:
Foto0417.jpg [ 1.53 MiB | Viewed 8559 times ]
So there are five blue boxed Magic Cubes, in four different editions, by Politechnika/Politoys Attachment:
Foto0420.jpg [ 1.56 MiB | Viewed 8559 times ]
Two blue boxed Magic Domino's of two different languages (I was also bidding on a russian packaging but that one was quite wanted), Attachment:

An Olympic Rings puzzle, complete with description sheet and package, which I got very lucky with. Attachment:

A magic domino in the original sealed container. This is a spindle mechanism whereas the other two are groove mechanisms. Unforunately I can't compare the mechanisms since I don't want to open the container And one Rubik's Revenge in the original container. I already had the dutch version (signed by Peter Sébestény) and now I have the english version as well

Eric's Elite Skewb #2 in two respects: my second from Eric and the second Elite Skewb ever made Excellent puzzle! EDIT: I had used the trick with the empty quote to get a white background for my photo. I've changed the background to the grey of the forum. Sorry, if this has confused anybody.

Today, I received the puzzle of my dreams. I saw this puzzle at the Lilly Library in Indiana, and just had to have it. It fits with my interest in vaudeville and circus history to a certain extent, but it is also a puzzle with a lot of history behind it. This puzzle is from 1892 and was created to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Columbus "discovering" "America". The puzzle of which I speak, of course, is the original Columbus Egg, created for the Chicago World's Fair/Colombian Exposition in 1893. The puzzle that I received is in pretty rough condition; there is rust-like plating loss and severe denting (almost as if someone couldn't solve it and decided to bang it repeatedly on a table...), but the mechanism is still functional and it still balances, albeit at a slight angle. The inscription in concentric circles around the base reads "Columbus Egg Puzzle/PM Baumgardner &co Chicago Manufacturers Pat. Apld For/Columbus 1492-1892 [plus sketch of Columbus]". The damage is not entirely surprising since it has survived past the invention of the motorized aircraft, two World Wars, and especially the invention of the Rubik's Cube. A video will be uploaded soon (~1-2 hours, YouTube is slow with large video files) to CuberJim's Channel (link in the signature). Here are some photos:

It's not extremely rare, but I did receive an Original 1980s Ideal Cube, about two days ago. I think it is rare enough to put here. It looks well loved - none of the stickers are peeling but they're slightly faded and some are scuffed. Studio cubes are really cool because the other colors are all the regular colors, but the orange side is flourescent! Really neat cube.

This puzzle caused a bit of controversy here, not just once but twice. A lot was edited and deleted from those threads so I'm not sure what the original issue was.

Puzzles are perfect! Nice!!! I assume these are both printed in SWF. May I ask why you didn't dye them black? I don't mind white puzzles but SWF gets dirty very easily with play, or have you somehow clear coated or protected the surface another way? Rather curious, Carl Is it safe to assume this Master Icosahedron by Muffet is now tested? And here is the Master FTO by TomZ for those interested.

Yes we can call Muffet's Tutt's Master Icosaminx tested and working!

I like bright colors, therefore I prefer white puzzles (but not all). I don't protect the puzzles, but most of surfaces are covered by stickers, so only tiny part can be dirty. It may become grey, but I'm ok with this situation. And I think you should wash your hands before playing Master FTO turns very well and looks like puzzle made from ordinary plastic. Master Icosahedron turns also smooth, but it is not polished. I haven't played too much with them yet, haven't scrambled and solved, just did few turns. I expect it will turn even much better after many movements. I enjoy with these Masters, many thanks to designers, great job!

I recently got Eric Vergo's fantastic Dreidel Skewb so I thought I'd show it off. This puzzle hasn't been introduced or demoed so I have made a video of it: VideoThis is the best turning puzzle I own and the cuts are so beautiful. It's really a great example of engineering meets art. Attachment:

Edit: I corrected the misspelling of the name.

Wow that's pretty cool. Although I actually at first hoped it to be a circle skewb. Although I just checked with gelatinbrain's applet and a circle skewb looks different anyway. Cool cube.
