It's that time of year again. As last year, I will load photos on my blog http://ipp30.blogspot.com/2011/08/ipp31.html and on my face book account. I'll load photos here as I can.

Now remember, behave yourselves (dont be like miss Rox) Dave is watching better than I.

As usual, I have just registered and then headed out to play!
David's job last night was to get me drunk enough to sleep. I got 3 hours so I don't think it really worked. Jet lag is a killer.

Posting on blog is done for the day, I"m loading photos to Face book now, and would say that if someone wants to link them, or load a few to go ahead. I'm off for a day of sightseeing then the Founders dinner this evening. If this wifi connection holds, I'll post more tonight.

Competition winners. How cool is that. Live. It's like the rosebowl without all the dull commentary. For the rest check out the web page.

Now the half naked man should be coming back

Sigh, wish I were there. Damn startup company, taking all my time.

If you get a chance, can you ask Christoph Bandelow whether he remembers my design for the Dino Cube I sent him sometime in the late 80s? He congratulated me for "designing a puzzle with genuine octahedral twist", but said he was unable to produce it.

Thanks Bram (and Brian). Alesky, it's easy to post to facebook. Twisty puzzles not so much. There I can load off my phone, here, I have to go to the lobby to get a good signal. Last year, Sharon was nice enough to load the best ones. This year, he's not around. Photos will come when I get back if no one else does it.

It's around 8 am and the main bits are done for the IPP. We are off to Potsdam for a side trip today. Sadly, the bug has school next Monday so we couldn't do the lock museum.

IPP afterparty in the hotel lobby. Just finished the Finish liquor (lingonberries) now dunking some Dutch jenever. Guy in the corner playing some jazz piano. Most twisty people gone but having a good time with Vesa's puzzles.
Just solved two Shimamura cube puzzles (soma cubes requiring twisting).

This was (is) awesome and I look forward to next year. Meeting Rox and David was great but the non twisty people are wonderful too and many gave me amazing advice/encouragement/inspiration.
I spent a lot of time with George Miller and he is a very unique, generous and inspiring person, slightly very strange though.

I'll write an extensive report later on my laptop, touch keyboards are no good and even I am starting to think about skipping apostrophes.

For those of you who like pictures, the pictures of the Design Competition winners are up on the front page, and even one twisty puzzle:

http://www.johnrausch.com/DesignCompetition/default.htm

My favourite was the House with Trees, but also the Visible Lock appeared on my list. After solving I was unsure whether the Euro coin should be the solver's reward, but I better left it in place for the next one. :)

IPP31 was a great event and I met many nice (twisty/non-twisty) puzzlers there,

It was great to see everyone and particularly a few forum members I had not yet met in person. I have a number of pictures and will post later when I have a bit more time.

I believe unfortunately my camera was upstairs when we had the picture of all the TwistyPuzzle members, so I will have to wait for someone else to post that.

Here they are, finally. My IPP 2011 pictures.

It was really very big fun - fantastic to meet so many people, I knew from the forum or elsewhere from the internet only. And we enjoyed to listen to TomZ, who is also a very gifted piano player.

Wow... great photos everyone! It was surely an all star IPP, and have met many twisty puzzle
people for the very first time.

Sorry to not have spent enough time with most of you, as me and my partner had already
prearranged some nice walks in the streets of Berlin (I hope you understand LOL).

Also many thanks to all those who purchased the Galaxius (I am not making any more as it is
difficult to find parts! - I have two more left in Australia).

I am sure the following year will be fruitful, full of puzzles and other successes.

Many greetings from lovely Singapore!

:)

Ok, we got back into HK at 2:30 this afternoon, and since I have issues with sleeping on planes, I hit my bed when I got in. I'm currently loading photos to facebook (and will link them Aleksey I promise)

Sadly I dropped the ball on photo loading and blogging this year, but will do a good write up later on when I fully awaken. In the mean time,
A few puzzles for you to drool over! (can you spot the ones made by Bram?)

Ok, more photo albums. A couple more to do tomorrow, but I'm dead right now, and my computer is taking forever to load videos to Youtube. On my channel when ever they get loaded. Quite fun I think.

I know they can't get past the great firewall of China, but others may view them on fb.

My pleasure. I knew the FB thing, but between being very busy and using my iPad most of the trip, links weren't going to happen. More will be loaded tomorrow. Too tired now.

I think I have now loaded the last of the photos, but can't guarantee it. I joked about having 20 GB of chips for my camera and another 16 for the video recorder. Well guess what? I filled them all and then some!
Videos are slowly slowly loading to youtube and I'll attempt to update when they are done.

Tom and Rox solving a few puzzles
the entertainment at the banquet (I just got a warning on this one-must be the music. It might not be up long. )

Here they are, finally. My IPP 2011 pictures.

Many thanks, Frank.

I came home without any photos of me accepting my prize, so it's great that you not only captured some good ones but have shared them at full resolution too.
I was very honoured to receive an award at my first attempt and happy to meet so many old and new friends.
As an IPP Greenhorn, I have to say I had a fantastic time and was made to feel really welcome by everyone there.
See you next year?
