Nice. Shame it's not a true Edge Turning Octahedron. When I saw the title I felt really sorry for Eitan. Still an awesome puzzle. :D

Awe. They're making pieces go under each other like with the Flowerminx I think. There should be more pieces if it was solid and the cuts were that deep. Probably just a shape mod of Dayan's Gem cube.

Very nice, but is it going to be mass produced? Or is just a shape mod of an MF8 puzzle?
Does it have anything to do with the MF8 company?

Same question goes to the MF8 master rainbow cube, shape mod or an upcoming puzzle?

Sharon

The master rainbow cube was a mod by Daquing Bao, he posted it here after we posted it. It may have been a mass production prototype, though.

Darn. I printed masters for this. Well you beat me to it. The masters didn't come yet. And also, the mech is the same as a helicopter cube.

No he used the dayan diamond mech and extended it which has 6 arms not 12 like a helicopter cube.

The mechanism on the Dayan gem is basically a helicopter cube mech, but the center pieces are slightly different. While the Dayan mech does have 6 arms, I'm fairly certain that the arms are stationary, and are only there to allow for spring tension.

Yes, it only functions the same as a helicopter mech, but it is not the helicopter mech; the helicopter cube used a 12 armed core, and has different pieces (internally-like how the pieces interact with one another)

The pieces are more or less the same internally, but the gem doesn't have helicopter cube corners.
