Hello, Some time ago I suggested Checker Cube - white 4x4x4 cube with black stickers. There was idea to use white and black cubes without stickers. Now I would like to present my Chess Cube built from two cubes. Enjoy! Best regards, Vladimir Yaroslavskiy

Yeah, even cubes are the way to go. I kinda wish Verdes would have made a V-6 Illusion: Lokks Fabulous! I've always wanted to someday do one with a genuine V-Cube 8x8x8 Here's a simple V7 mod I did long before the illusion ever released: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12896&hilit=chessboard

I was going to make this. And I'm not just saying that, I was going to order the cubes next week. Nevermind, I'll probably do it anyway. It looks great!

Anyway the thing I like about this design is you can also solve it with one half (two layers) black and the other half white. Or even make some nice yin-yang designs, all with the same puzzle.

It makes more sense to me to pick an odd ordered design because the symmetry exists on four lines instead of just two, thus is more appealing.
I'm sure they tried a v6 illusion and determined that v7 was better, but I may be wrong.
And I may be wrong about the general populous's opinion about aesthetics, but symmetry is more attractive to me.

That looks very like a very nice puzzle, even if quite easy to solve - the lack of stickers gives the puzzle such a clean look. Before reading this thread and having only seen the title i thought of an 8x8x8 cube with various chess configurations on each side. The aim - checkmate on every face. Could be a pretty damn hard puzzle ` I guess a similar thing could be made with a 3x3x3 cube and tic-tac-toe win-conditions on each face.

I think the ILLusion brought me to the idea. One of those cubes I stickered as a 4^6 sudoku (see second picture) The other one was fun playing with unstickered. But recently I also stickered it with a design a will soon post details about.
