Let me introduce you the world’s first «Void 2x2x2 Cube».
To my great surprise its first version twists already well and the construction is rather steady.
I designed its holes round – their diameter is one third from the cube edge’s length, but you can create ones with square and rhombic holes.
The puzzle has the most complicated mechanism I ever devised. I designed it in July and was going to release it in August, but I’m able to do it only now.
Mechanism – glue, magnets and rubber bands… :lol:

Wow, after watching the video I see the holes remain void even AFTER being turned! o_o I cannot begin to imagine how difficult this mech is...
Great puzzle! It's a shame it doesn't provide a different solve from a normal 2x2x2, but things like this are a must-make (:

On a more constructive note, do you think that this mech can be modified to make a void 4x4x4?

Sounds possible.

I think you could anchor the centers to this 2x2 similar to a 2x2x4 (except backwards) and build it up like a Rubik's 4x4.

My first reaction was "I thought Quarks was the first void 2x2," but I just realized it has holes in the corners, not faces. :lol:

If you look closely the holes on the faces being turned do remain void. However the sides where the hole is shows part of the internal mech midn-turn. Nonetheless it is a fantastic puzzle and I am clueless as to how it works.
