Hi, I recently came up with another puzzle concept.
It is like a 3x3x3, but when turning one face, an adjacent face cannot be turned until that face is returned to its original position. however, all slice moves are do-able, which makes this puzzle more of a 'sliding piece' puzzle.

I've tried solving it, it is EXTREMELY hard. because it barely even resembles a 3x3x3 solving-wise, no 3x3x3 algs work.
Because I have neither the software nor the funds to do custom puzzle building, Anyone who wants to design this is free to do so. some sort of 'royalty' would be nice, but that doesn't really matter. I believe I'm the first one to have this idea, certainly not the mech though, which is reminiscent of the Mixup cube.

Please, someone make this a reality!

PS it would be really nice if, tomorrow, some famous builder reveals that they've been working on this for a long time xD

What you need is a 3x3x3 with six different mechanisms, interchangable for one move, so that the next move is blocked. Then you can add Magic Sphere like pieces over the top of the slices.

I think it could be made using something like this:



It would be a spherical version of that. The red lines show the rotation axes. The different sized slices are to prevent turning adjacent sides when one side is turned. I guess a 3x3x3 could be bandaged like this:



Then made into a shere with rails added onto the edges/centers where the slice pieces could slide along. Similar to a Rubik's 4x4x4.

EDIT: Just saw it couldnt be done with the second image, the slices would need to be different sizes I think, Like the first.

EDIT AGAIN: Wow completly didnt see your image until after I posted this, and it says pretty much the same thing.

My Knot from hell 3x3 is eactly that when it has shorter ropes!!

Just make a spherical 2x2x2 with off centered cuts so that it can't be scrambled but still can act like a 1x1x2. Then extend it into a 3x3x3 with the mixup cube mech.

I've managed to get the concept that far already, see the small picture on the side...(;
In general I've done about 5% of the necessary work; I hope someone else is willing to take the next 95% and bring it from concept to a finished puzzle.
