First off, I'd like to make the following announcements: 1- If you want your puzzle to be recorded on these lists (aka any puzzle), post it in the New Puzzles category. While I occasionally go to the other categories, I won't be online nearly as often this September, maybe longer, and therefore I may miss a puzzle not posted in New Puzzles. I will continue to keep my New Year's resolution going, which means I will continue to post a monthly list. 2- I'd really appreciate it if you could name your puzzle(s) if the concept is new. It hasn't been a problem this month, but I still have unnamed puzzles, all the way back to April, because of members who have not named their puzzle and did not reply to my PMs regarding names. It is perfectly acceptable to call them what they are geometrically, or if you have a creative name, I will record it under that name instead. This month I tried something new, inspired by Mindstormscreator when he made the Excel spreadsheet consisting of every single puzzle, organized with some additional information not found in these lists. With his help, I devised a new method which makes it literally impossible to miss a puzzle, so long as it is posted in the New Puzzles category as mentioned above. That being said, I am now more sure than ever that I did not miss a single puzzle. Without further delay (a rather ironic phrase in my opinion): 401- Aug 1- pirsquared's Master Helicopter Cube V2402- Aug 2- Andreas Nortmann's OctagonalEdges A00005294403- Aug 2- Andreas Nortmann's OctagonalEdges C8800044C00404- Aug 2- Andreas Nortmann's OctagonalEdges A00005297405- Aug 2- Andreas Nortmann's OctagonalEdges C0A00005E94406- Aug 2- Andreas Nortmann's OctagonalEdges E8000140E94407- Aug 2- Andreas Nortmann's OctagonalEdges E8A00145003408- Aug 2- Andreas Nortmann's OctagonalEdges 8800044E97409- Aug 2- Andreas Nortmann's OctagonalEdges C0A00005E97410- Aug 2- Andreas Nortmann's OctagonalEdges 21E8A00145087411- Aug 2- Andreas Nortmann's OctagonalEdges A528A00145297412- Aug 2- Andreas Nortmann's OctagonalEdges A528A00145E97413- Aug 2- Andreas Nortmann's OctagonalEdges A5E8A00145E97414- Aug 2- VeryWetPaint's The Rox Box415- Aug 3- pirsquared's Groove Cube416- Aug 3- Olivér Nagy's Spiral Megaminx417- Aug 3- MaCheezm0's Lazy Lazy Mans 3x3x5418- Aug 3- Puzzlemaster6262's 4x4x4 with a Partial Twist V2419- Aug 3- Andreas Nortmann's Rhombic Triacontahedron (Truncated Only)420- Aug 4- kloopstomp's Magic Fuzzy Dice421- Aug 4- Andreas Nortmann's Corner Truncated 000 001 Extended422- Aug 4- Vladimir Yaroslavskiy's Numeric Cube423- Aug 4- MaCheezm0's Cubic 3x3x4424- Aug 5- Steryne's Lotus!425- Aug 5- Mupuzzle's 5x5x1426- Aug 5- Mupuzzle's Void Floppy427- Aug 5- Andreas Nortmann's One Layer Star Prism428- Aug 6- Oskar's Gift Pyramid429- Aug 7- Chino's MegaRD430- Aug 7- Spy_Satellite's Different 3x3x3 Sticker Mod431- Aug 7- eye2eye's Wave Cube (Sticker Mod)432- Aug 8- Dylan_46's Mini 3x3x3 Icosahedron433- Aug 8- gingervergo's The Astrominx434- Aug 8- Andreas Nortmann's Pentagonal Pyramid435- Aug 9- Andreas Nortmann's Corner Truncated 000 011 101436- Aug 9- Andreas Nortmann's Corner truncated 000 001 010 100437- Aug 9- RyanZ's Fully Functional Fused 3x3x2438- Aug 10- Drewseph's Starminx III439- Aug 11- 0wlStudioz's X-cube440- Aug 11- Muffet's Pentet Star441- Aug 11- Andreas Nortmann's Decagonal prism442- Aug 12- Kastellorizo's Happier Cube443- Aug 12- dylan_46's trajber 3x3x5444- Aug 12- Oskar's Anisotropic Cube445- Aug 15- Garrett's 2x3x4446- Aug 15- Juanan's Double Ring447- Aug 16- Monopoly's Fused Void Cubes448- Aug 16- Steryne's E.T.H.A.N. I'm pretty sure the Void Floppy and the 5x5x1 are mupuzzles's puzzles. I may be wrong, though.
I vote for: 1. Drewseph's Quad-X. 2. Muffet's Star Puzzle.

Gah! Why couldn't eitan release his Master Helicopter Cube V2 1 day earlier. So many choices, I can think of at least 5 five that I'd be happy to see win.
I guess these are my final votes: pirsquared's Master Helicopter Cube V2 Drewseph's Starminx III

Quad x and helicopter skewb.
Also my cross cube should be removed from the list. It is still a work in progress and its thread is in puzzle building and modding. Along with that, can't past winners not win?

1. Drewseph's Quad-X 2. gingervergo's The Astrominx A top 2 is just too hard! close runner-ups were: pirsquared's Master Helicopter Cube V2 Drewseph's Starminx III Justin's Bauspiel Tower TomZ's Helicopter Skewb The Quad-X was definite, but I wasn't quite sure if I would pick the master helicopter or the astrominx, and I guess my Gelatinbrain 'nostalgia' made me choose the astrominx. I'm sorry Eitan, but at least you already have plenty of votes .

Astrominx Lotus II
For some reason, I can't cut and paste, so I have retyped this underneath:
January: Jason Smith (cornered/Circo Radiolarian tie) February: Aleh (circle minx) March: Judochiou625 (V7Tetrahedron) April: Justin (dymaximinx) May: Grigr (Fluffy Cube) June: TomZ (Curvy Copter II) July: (forgot, to be edited) August: PuzzleMaster6262 and Rentlix (the Creature)
These 8 people cannot take another month this year. This is to insure that 12 different minds win a year for the puzzle of the month competitions.

Steryne wrote: These 8 people cannot take another month this year. This is to insure that 12 different minds win a year for the puzzle of the month competitions. I honestly don't think it's fair to announce that now- in past months some votes have gone to previous winners. It isn't fair to change the rules, and it is also not fair to take out votes of people simply because you failed to announce the winners. I learned now, months into these people winning, that every time I voted for any of these people, my vote was trashed. I've voted multiple times when I shouldn't have been able to, yet you haven't recounted the votes. So did Katten, PM6262, and Steveo. In past months, PM6262, WWWMWWW, Tony Fisher, kuBer, Katten, Andreas Nortmann, and mr bang had their votes disabled. If you can tell all of these people that you've delibrately taken their votes out without warning them or advising them to change them, simply due to your failure to make a rule clear, you should not be the one to count the votes. Pretend PuzzleMaker001 makes a puzzle, one so good it wins the month. Next month, PuzzleMaker001 makes another puzzle, which everyone votes for, and second votes have this turnout: PuzzleMaker002 gets 2/3 of votes and PuzzleMaker003 gets 1/3 of votes. Who wins? Lets see here: 1/3-Least votes 2/3-Runner-up- This won by your logic 3/3-Most votes Now in month 3, these 3 people are the only ones who get votes. Imagine: 50% for PM001 50%-1 for PM002 1 vote for PM003 Why did the votes turn out like this? Because winners of previous months consistently compete for the top, and these top people tend to consistently create genius inventions. However, one lucky other takes just 1 vote, and wins. The last-place person wins. But why? Because the other voters continued to vote for the winners, as they never were told who they could not vote for. In other words: 1 vote for PM003 100%-1 votes disabled. How fair is it to disable a vote? If you are to tell us not to vote for previous winners, please: A- Announce this in advance so everyone is aware of the rules. It's not fair to change the rules on those of us who cast dead votes unknowingly. B- Announce who we can't vote for, because otherwise we won't know if we just cast dead votes. C- Keep up with elections. It hurts to say you simply forgot who won a PoM. For all we know, I could have just thrown out both of my votes in vain, because you failed to post anywhere publically until AFTER voting started... 8 months after the year started. You messed up the months, too. Creature won July. August voting just started. You can't disable my vote for Justin because you didn't announce who won those months. If so, I disable your vote for yourself. Why? According to last month: will_57 wrote: Am I the only one that thinks it is unfair to vote for your own puzzle?

Yes, you have valid points. I have not made this clear enough. I will go with your version of the rule, you can't vote for the same user in the same month.

Steryne did post these rules when puzzle of the month started.
I think it is fair to have a different winner every month. For puzzle of the year, all puzzles of the year that did not win first or second place should be voted on. The top 6 should then be added to the 24 others for the final voting.

I think this discussion should be moved to a new topic.
As for the helicopter skewb, I want whichever version with the most votes to get my vote aswell. Ie, if TomZ's has more votes, my vote is for his.

As you are supporting the no-repeats rule, you may only go with Namegoeswhere as your vote. Until you specify, your vote doesn't count. After all, you haven't cast a vote until you say who you are voting for.

Voting for two is just unfair... (that is, the 1st "voted puzzle" gets five points, 2nd get four, 3rd gets 3, 4th gets two points, and 5th gets one point - quite fair and more "distributive" method, isn't it?) And because of this, this month, I am on a "voting-strike"!!! (it is a common thing in Greece) Pantazis PS. Joking aside, the puzzle of the month voting, is an outstanding inititiave and it requires a lot of work. I give my full support and respect to everyone involved in this. But please forgive me for not being flexible this time, as you must all admit, there are too many absolutely GREAT puzzles this month, and two votes is simply not enough!
