As mentioned a few times previously, Muse is a UK rock group.
Earlier this year I was contacted by their merchandise company. They told me they were looking for a "very special product" to sell on the band's tour. They told me how their Resistance album artwork was based on hexagons and they were looking for a puzzle with the same theme. I can only assume they Googled 'hexagon' and 'puzzle' and ended up on my website.
After some discussions they chose my Truncated Octahedron puzzle. They wanted a few thousand and to sell them at normal shop prices. This presented a slight problem for me since there is no way I could complete such an order. However I knew a man who could.
Over the last few months Uwe Meffert, the merchandise company, the band and myself worked towards the final product. There was the manufacture of the actual puzzle plus artwork and suitable packaging to sort out (I only found out today that the final name would be The Resistance Puzzle after the album title and tour name).
Finally the product was finished and shipped in May. It was scheduled to go on sale first in Switzerland at their concert in Stade De Suisse on 2nd June. Because of a few problems I was not sure if this actually happened. However the puzzle is now listed on their website here and is available for sale at £15. Anyone attending their concerts this year should be able to get one from the venue if they prefer.
As mentioned elsewhere Uwe decided to make a few extra plain versions to sell on his website.
To answer predicted questions-
I don't think this version will be available from Meffert.
I haven't seen the final packaging yet so can't say much about it.
I haven't got one yet and don't know if the stickers are extra shiny or just normal.

1991- I transformed a Skewb into an Octahedron (Octahedron Skewb).
1999- I made a truncated version of this puzzle (Truncated Octahedron Skewb).
Later- Uwe Meffert manufactures Octahedron Skewb independent of myself (Skewb Diamond).
2010 10th Feb- I am contacted by Muse's merchandise company.
2010- Uwe Meffert manufactures Muse version (Resistance Puzzle) with artwork by the merchandise company.
2010- Uwe Meffert manufactures plain coloured version (Hex Skewb)
2010 June- Both versions go on sale.

I'm not a big muse fan, but I really didn't see this coming! Probably will pick them up!

They look pretty cool, I would get it but I don't see the need of getting a sticker variation of the normal Skewb Hex.

I might get one of these if I have enough money as I quite like Muse.

The stickers are not shiny, but rather 'flat'. But the colors are very bright and vivid! You will love them!

As far as I could see, Muse offers the black version only. I prefer black anyway, but katsmom's pictures could be misleading for those with white preference.
I've ordered one (My younger daughter likes Muse, I had never heard of them before Tony's post. In case you wonder about the little girl in my avatar: Yes it is a girl and it is the niece of my daughter. So, guess what it is to me?)
I like the shape of this puzzle and can compare the Meffert's version with the Muse version, soon.

Great puzzle and great song.
Actually part of the song (piano at the beginning) reminded me of the tune of NCIS (great too).

Is there also a way to order the puzzle without using credit cards?

I don't think so. I have used my creditcard. (I've ordered the latest CD from Muse too)

I can't say about the white puzzle. I know some were made, but maybe I just got hold of one of the samples. I don't have it in Black. Sorry if my picture is misleading. I posted so you could see the sticker's lack of sheen.

I am pretty sure all the official MUSE ones are black. We discussed colours and that was their choice I am pleased to say. It is likely though that a few like Rox's were made as a test since there were discussions about whether or not Uwe would sell the MUSE version himself. I assume he would have supplied it in white and black plastic.
BTW the plan was to individually number the boxes. There were some problems with this though and I am not certain of the final outcome. I still don't actually have any version myself.

Does that mean he's not going to sell it himself?

I would not expect that Meffert's ever sells the Muse sticker variant.

I know, but Tony said that Uwe might have sold the Muse version. That would've been good as I could order both the Muse one and the standard one from Meffert's.

I am kind of a fan of Muse. I haven't listened to their album Resistance, but there are a couple songs I have been introduced to by friends. I do have a question about this puzzle: since it turns different then a 3x3 and has triangular centers, do the center pictures change position when you solve it? (for example a Yankees, Mets, Patriots, or any other sport/picture cube)

The triangles are equivalent to the corners on a Skewb and behave the same way. To solve, the puzzle is the same as a Skewb Ultimate or Super Skewb.

The Muse version looks quite nice, but the mark-up is just too expensive given my current finances. I have ordered the classic black version from Meffert's though.

I have noticed the puzzle has been removed from their website. No idea why but if I find out I'll tell you.

I have ordered one and have got an order confirmation Friday June 4. So, I hope they will ship it.

I know there was some problems with putting individual numbers on the boxes. I have a sneaky feeling they put the puzzles on the website before they were actually ready for sale. Just a hunch.

I have just had confirmation that my above assumption is correct. They will soon be put back on the website. I wasn't told anything about puzzles already ordered but I guess they'll be delayed by a few days. I can't confirm this though.

Mmh, I paid for one on Friday 4th. I got an order confirmation the same day.

As you have probably a communication channel with them, could you check your assumption, please?

Hi everyone....
I didn't post a lot since I got my account (that's the less we can say), but this post will fit well in the topic
I went to see Muse in Paris on saturday, and I can tell you (except that the gig was brilliant ) that Muse must really have enjoyed your puzzle :
It was almost the most "exposed" item in the official shop, with a big "wall of boxes" behind the sellers, and a big poster in the middle of the T-shirts, almost same size of the T-shirts......
So I believe the band must have enjoy the product.....
On the other hand, it seems that it doesn't sell that well (the girl told me she had sell 5 that day - although it wasn't the only shop in the stadium....)
Anyway, I'm very happy that I bought it now, it's a really cool puzzle, although I'm a bit disapointed that my wife threw the box this morning

Did you happen to get any photos of them at the concert? I'd love a pic of them in situ if anyone else is attending a Muse concert this year.

As I really hate the music of Muse I will have to send someone else.

Luckily the sister of my girlfriend is a big Muse Fan and is attending the concert on saturday.

Nope, sorry I had no cam (and I don't think I would have think of taking a picture of the shop )
But as I told you, they're very well exposed.
There was a guy next to me who came to buy a t-shirt, but the 1st think he asked was "what's that weird think", he looked very surprised when the girl told him it was a rubik puzzle

Yeah, I received mine yesterday ordered on the 7th, so 10 days HK -> UK

Really nice puzzle, still trying to solve it. Only solved a skewb for the first time yesterday (never actually picked one up before) so it might take me awhile to work out center orientation and get used to the wrong shape.... then finally, on to my golden cube, which has been sat on my desk scrambled since they were first produced
