I've got my second Gear Cube and have put the stickers from Dr Sticker on it:





In my opinion the stickers could be a tiny bit smaller. Personally, I prefer the original touch and feel (you feel now the borders of the new stickers a bit) and the original colors (matt German vinyl)



My verdict: The new stickers fit much better to the shape of the pieces, but ideally they would be just a little bit smaller. I have no fear that the vinyl wares off, as you are holding and turning this cube at the corners.

Probably, I'll look for stickers from Olivér, especially if he will offer some Escher patterns. Tony's idea of fishes and a rising sun sounds appealing.

EDIT: Here is yet another picture showing that this new sticker set provides a different challenge (not much harder, BTW):

They look really cool on the Gear Cube, but I was wondering how you would solve it with those additional pieces?

Before my Gear Cube had arrived, I emulated the moves on an ordinary 3x3x3. Therefore, I was used to solving the edges (which are those newly stickered U-shaped parts under the gears. Be aware that they always travel in quadruplets together with the adjacent gears. They can be flipped only under the gears as in my picture above.).
That wasn't really hard. I was afraid that the gears above the edges would be an additional new challenge. The whole Cube looked quite intimidating when it arrived. Then it turned out that the Gears solve trivially on top of the edges. Due to this history I started solving the Gear Cube with a style that takes stickered edges into account.
This may be a little bit harder, but it is still easy enough.

I personally don't like the look of these stickers, I prefer the standard ones.

Certainly, this is a matter of taste and I'll keep the original in its original state. Still, I'm convinced that the new stickers make the "gear character" of this cube much better visible. I would really like to see something following Tony's idea (fishes and sun).
