I've no idea how to get back a password that you can't remember. I'm not a programmer. Sorry. Can't help. Send an email maybe to Jade@jadeclub.org, or is it jades@jadeclub.org. Can't remember that either. Not much of an 'administrator' am I? Probably because I'm not one.

And no, I can't just call Uwe. He's in Australia and not answering his phone. He's taking this vacation idea very seriously

I did this just now, but I doubt I'll receive any puzzles because it considers me an unpaid member even though Paypal has a record of the payment. (It says "Status: Jade+ Club Member" at the top, with a little "unpaid" icon.) How do I get this fixed?

I have a similar problem, the password and user name I received from jades@jadeclub has never worked and I have no response from the Jade Club to my emails about it.

Just got a very nice email. Unfortunately there seems to be no link between jade club and the mefferts store? Not sure how my "reservation" will be processed first without this link.

Edit: Just to clarify, by link I mean a way to associate one with the other, not an actual web link to product/account :)

You can also reserve a Tony Fisher Holey Skewb from the reservations page, although there is no information about it.

Sorry if you feel I keep harping on here, but does anyone have any info about when they're shipping these Jade Club puzzles (not the gear cube, the jade pyraminx and cubes)?

I had a look at the Meffert's reservation page and at "New puzzle survey".
Neither shows the Holey Skewb.
Can you provide a link, please?
EDIT: Aaah, I see it is not on the Meffert's site but on the Jades site. I'ver reserved a black ($18)

Why is Tony Fisher being credited for the Holey Skewb? It was not his idea:
Tony's Website wrote:
I made this prototype puzzle in 2009 after seeing poloquebec's (forum username) dummy Void Skewb. He had cut holes in each of the six squares but had left the core as it is. This meant when you looked inside his puzzle you could see the central spider. I decided to take it one step further and modify the core so the spider was no longer visible.

This looks OK to me as the predecessor was quite different, obviously. "..the spider was no longer visible"

Still, the puzzle was designed by poloquebec. Tony just made a (more practical) application of the design. I don't know whether he should get credit for that but surely poloquebec should get at least part of the credit.

So the first person to take the center caps off of a 3x3x3 should get some credit for the void cube and it's mechanism, right?

I would say 10% of the Void Skewb is Poloquebecs. But what does it matter to me?

Edit: Realized for the first time the Gear Cube is restricted to 180 degree turns. That makes it much easier than I first thought.

Actually, not 180 degree turns, but dual 90 degree turns. 90+90=180 yes, but relative to the core, it is still plus or minus 90 degrees. Someone said that it requires a 270 degree turn to straiten the edges, which makes sense because the edges have six teeth on them. :scrambled:

I don't know about the degree of the turns, but here are a few snaps of what it does:

OK, just got off the phone with Uwe-very very bad connection-we were disconnected twice.

Here's the deal. (at least as I understood it through all that static) Jade club members that click the reserve button will be given a chance to order and pay before any of these go on the Meffert's shop webpage. I didn't hear how far in advance though.

There may be a small number of puzzles that may show up only for Jade club members that will never make it to the Meffert's shop.

As far as unpaid is concerned, on the webpage, there is some bug in the programming yet-i do know they changed providers and are changing-or have changed from flash to html (is that logical? I'm not a programmer and avoid all talk of that stuff because I live with one and don't want to get sucked in to his work-ignorance is bliss!) and there are still updates being made. OK, anyway, if you have paid, they DO have a record of that so don't worry. Also, because nothing has been shipped out yet, you can change your address on the Jade club page and all puzzles will be sent to that address.

If you have lost your password, send an email to that address given previously and you should get a "new password" don't loose the one you change it to! All of these take manpower that Meffert's simply doesn't have.

I am attempting to get all questions answered, but am overwhelmed by reading and writing and course design and grant proposals and.......you get the idea.

Helicopter cubes are out of stock! Good go order from Jason!!!! I am.

Mega house's new puzzle is up for $30-still free shipping. Um good deal? Don't know. You decide.

Holey Skewb-it's super cool! I love it. Great puzzle Tony! Reminds me of a camera shutter. And you can stick your fingers through it. Any puzzle I can 'wear' is a great puzzle.

Jade club puzzles? Still something with the RDF thing. Not shipped yet. I don't have mine-other than a prototype. When I get mine, I'll post and you will get them in the order of joining (I think that's what he said) In the mean time, keep watching for my post on it.

I think that's about all the 'news' I have-back to the books for me.

He has me to keep you all informed. He only has himself to update and answer everyone's questions. It kind of makes sense, but keeps me more busy than I care to be right now. Besides, I reach at least "1200 worldwide members"

I agree with it not needing to be in flash. I may do a redesign of it, keeping the current layout and everything but in good ol' HTML.

Faster load times, can still embed flash on the webpage if you need to, probably end up being more secure.

I was indeed inspired by poloquebec but without my original core design the Holey Skewb / Void Skewb would not exist.

Why isn't it called the Void Skewb? The void name came before holey, as the Void cube, then the holey megaminx. It's like when they call the circle series of puzzles 'Crazy'.

Uwe tends to have his own ideas about what puzzles should be called and unless I strongly disagree I go along with it. I think he prefers to have his own names rather than variations of existing ones. There was also some argument on the forum about whether the puzzle is technically "void" but I don't think he will even have known about that.
Giving the choice I would have certainly chosen "Void Skewb"

It's good being unique and everything, but why Holey? When saying it to myself, it sounds quite babyish and immature. Even something like the Naught (not sure if that's how you spell the number 0) cube is a lot better then Holey.

Meffert already has the holey megaminx, gentosha toys has the void cube. In that respect, holey 'belongs' to meffert puzzles with a hole through the middle. It is a continuation of the trend.

And maybe he was wise enough to NOT drag us into a discussion whether the term void was 'knocked off' of gentosha toys or not.

You guys that want Jade club information...join the queue.

I usually talk with Uwe in one form or another everyday. I knew that master pyramorphix and the holey skewb were being made. But I didn't know exactly when. Imagine my surprise when I logged on to here to find out I needed to go pre-order.

I've been telling you I couldn't help with everything. Now you can see that I really DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING

But I do know the next couple that are coming, and you will be very pleased as always  Watch out though the copy companies have made the same puzzles-It seems to be a race for the finish on those. I WON'T tell you what they are, but when they show up I WILL tell you not to buy! You all are clever ducks and should be able to work it out from there.

FOUR months and still no sign of my puzzles, no news when they will be shipped and no response to any of my messages. I'm fed up with this and have asked for my money back. :(

UPDATE: my own personal issues with the Jade Club have now been resolved.

More 3x3 variations

Meffert needs to make more original puzzles like the Gear Cube. Then competition is a non-issue. :)

See, there you go spreading rumours again

And no, not a chance I'm telling.

Funny rumor that one anyway now that I think of it. Meffert's isn't exactly known for 3x3x3 variations. what, 2 of them in 20 years? Hmmmmm. Makes me wonder if anyone ever reads anything.

Do you mean the Jades puzzles? To me it had been clear that the process of joining the Jades Club was not exactly the same as "ordering puzzles". The puzzles would show up in 2010. That was my only expectation.
Rox had explained that the Jades puzzles took some time and the colors of the prototypes had not been as expected. I had some issues with Meffert's recently, but the Jades puzzles are not on that list.

I'm still holding on for them, but I understand where you're coming from. I joined about 4 months ago and expected the puzzles to be shipped by easter at the latest. While I understand that delays happen, Uwe Meffert should really email members and let them know what's happening, when the delays should be sorted by and when he hopes to have started shipping by.

Yep, I mean the Jade puzzles (it's a Jade Club thread, right?). I understand this has nothing to do with "ordering puzzles" from Mefferts, but this is still a matter of not getting the puzzles I paid for after 4 months, no news or information when they will be shipped, and no response to any of my messages.

That's simply not an acceptable level of service by any standards, never mind "VIP"!

Exactly, just an apology and/or an update on his website would have been sufficient. I guess that's too much effort for all his "VIP" customers.

Sorry to moan, but I think I have every right to complain. It's not that the puzzles are (were) taking too long, but that Meffert didn't even put two lines on his website to keep people informed.

Anyway, let's see how long it takes to get my money back now. :(

UPDATE: my own personal issues with the Jade Club have now been resolved.

You paid for a membership, the puzzles are free and will be shipped whenever they are ready. I have never had any expectations that they would ship any time soon when I originally signed up since at that time all they had were pictures of prototypes. My only expectation is that they ship sometime this year.

This exactly. I have both a 3x3x3 and a jing's pyraminx, but I got these so I could have some NICE puzzles. :D

Not the way I saw it. I wouldn't have joined if the puzzles were more than 18 dollars. I'd have just got a regular Jing's pyraminx. The only reason I joined is they looked a little cooler and cost the same. If I knew they weren't coming for more than 3 months (not 4 in my case) when I joined, I'd have probably got the basic ones and free membership when it came up.

I'm not after my money back. I'm happy with the purchase. I just want some indication if I'm getting it anytime soon. As are the 2 friends I convinced to join who are starting to bug me about it.

I just wanted to say that I got my Gear Cube too. It was pretty fast: 13 calendar days from Hong Kong to Canada.

By the way, it is a very easy puzzle; appearances can be deceiving.

Skarabajo.

I've got mine after 15 days from Hongkong to Germany. My new world record for Meffert's delivery times! :)
BTW, I find the puzzle easy, but not very easy. The very seems a bit exaggerating. A very easy puzzle is something like a 3x2x1 or a Platypus. The Caution cube looks a bit intimidating, though. Compared with that expectation you probably can justify the word very.
