Hello everyone, My name is Vladimir Yaroslavskiy, and I would like to present my hand-made puzzle - Vertushka-2 "San Francisco Cars". The implementation of this puzzle I found many years ago in one Russian magazine, more probably it was "Nauka i Zhizn" ("Science and Life"), but now I can't find any reference to it. The implementation is very simple and can be done by everybody, not only professional puzzle makers. The materials are: 20 triangle pieces (I took them from triangle domino), two discs (it may be metal, plastic, wooden or something else), 10 small cylinders (I cut it from old unused markers), elastic band, and your favorite pictures / stickers. Then I glued triangles with cylinders, put pictures, and joined all together by band. That's all. When you rotate left or right parts of the puzzle, pieces are mixed up. That's very creative! I think this is one of the first 2D twistypuzzles without circular cuts. And it can be made 'easily'!

I made the same puzzle about 20-25 years ago when I found the description from the same source. I used large buttons for central disks, and the pieces cut from old pens for the triangles. But I had to cut the triangles by hand out of plywood, and it wasn't easy to make them all precisely identical. Nice work!

At the same time I also made this puzzle from the same plywood and used buttons It was too hard to make equal triangles, therefore now I decided to take ready triangles.

What a simple clever concept. I'll have to make one of these. I was gonna ask if you could post instructions for making it, but now I see just how simple it is and I don't think I need them.

-d It is really simple to make the puzzle, it was more difficult to find and buy triangle domino

Interesting.
Could one expand it to a larger arrangement? Such as adding an additional three pieces to either the top or bottom to form a trancated triangle with three rotating hexagons?

That's a very clever way of making 2d twisty puzzles and I hope to see more of these in the future.

Nice Rounding the sharp corners will make it move smoother and distort less. You will lose only a small part of the image. Dave

The shape in the center on the third spread looks especially appealing! I might try to do something like that one!

I want to make the last one on the third page, interior row becoming exterior row. I like the idea of that.

Rox, I belive that the book just offered a way (a very simple and clever one) to make the Rotascope puzzle at home. I don't think it was originally made in Soviet Union.
