I was on the [removed] site today and I saw this: [link to some new puzzles]
[Moderator: Sadly links to sites "new puzzles" pages can change their content. When this was posted it was to show non-KO puzzle but now this link leads to KO puzzles which we can't allow. It has been removed.]

They're all must-haves. 3x3x3-dodecahedron, Greenhill's Octahedron and Trajbers Octahedron! But it doesn't look like they're for sale just yet.

I was going to say that. I've been waiting for ages for someone to make them.

I need to buy all 3 of these (I'm glad I haven't ordered a touch cube from Argos, as I wouldn't be able to afford these). :D

please change your title. these are not KO cubes, and it's highly offensive to say that. [Moderator: Well, perhaps they weren't when posted but things have changed]

you can change it to "New Exotic puzzles"

They're all pre-existing designs, but KOs? Technically not.

If I were to purchase any one of them, it would definitely be the Trajber's.

No, the definition of the Kepler Cube is a Cube inside a Dodecahedron.
That puzzle (which was first made many many years ago) can be
better described as a Dodecahedron inside a Cube (i.e. truncated Cube).

I know the Kepler Cube's definition may confuse some of you, so I hope
this clears things up.

:)

These are such great puzzles, but I hate it how they label everything as "magic cube"

ya, know I don't need to worry about getting supplies for a trajbers, but I wish they would stop making shape mods and some actual puzzles. this is actually disappointing in one way, because I was planning to make some of these and sell them, pretty soon there's going to be no custom puzzle business it seems :?

lol, ya that would be funny, but I mean like all the common mods that beginning modders like me do as first mods are being mass-produced. and the more difficult 3x3x3 mods are no longer valuable like the trajbers and the greenhills octahedron (I think that's what it's called. and I think it's fair to say that Oskar's puzzle building is not a business, as he probably makes little to no money, but his puzzles are a contribution to the art of puzzle building such as many others on this forum. but I don't mean that there will be no puzzles to make as the possibilities are endless, but to have every mass-produced puzzle, as many collectors try to have, will start getting nearly impossible due to the flood of new chinese products, not to mention c4u and mf8 and Mefferts.

I get what you're saying. It was just dry humor.

Although, regardless of availability, it shouldn't stop you from building whatever you want.

please dont feel disencouraged! Please make your mods! Any custom work is so much more appreciated than you might think right now. If you feel like you dont want to buy a custom build puzzle because you can get a cheaper produced version, thats just something you are going to have to work with youself.

If I had 2000 to spend, I'd buy myself a 4th Teraminx

btw. there are so many simple shapemods that are not produced.

If you want to make a little profit to making more projects, you should build and sell some pyraminx mods. 3x3x4 mods. 3x3x2. there are like endless possibilities!

also, please expect more of these to come as well. dont get "disapointed" when you see the icosahedron shape 3x3x3, icosahedron skewb etc etc.

also, for many of us that dont have that much spare time, it is actually a blessing to see stuff like this, cuz then I dont have to build myself or have someone build it for me.

I mean, who doesnt want these puzzles in their collection

I'm happy to see these and other popular mods being made. I would much rather see these being mass produced instead of endless KOs.

I spend a bit on puzzles each year-not as much as some, and more than others. I'm glad these are coming out. Why? Another puzzle!

But I've said it before and I'll say it again, there is nothing like a hand made puzzle! I knew the helicopter cube was about to be massproduced (or at least that it was in the discussion stages) and that didn't stop me from buying one.

If you become a good builder and people recognize you as such, there are still those of us who prefer the hand made versions to the massproduced ones. Don't let this discourage you. Practice building on these, then move up to the stuff the big boys make!

And Like Volitar Prime, I would much rather see an easy modification that everyone (well, everyone except me  ) can make than a copy of a patented puzzle. There are some amazing puzzles coming out this year from different quarters (not just Meffert's), but even a hint of them would allow the copiers to get there first. I for one think it's fantastic that these companies are making "different puzzles" Let them keep doing it!

Which reminds me, I need to order another hand made puzzle

That is ridiculous.
Three "new" mass produced shape mods and I won't buy any of them because
1. they are white.
2. I have built all three of them.

The pity is that now nobody will exchange anything for my dodecahedrons anymore. *mourn*

Has anybody recognized that those dodecahedrons don't have a perfect shape? That they are just "almost dodecahedrons" like mine.

Well they aren't being called regular dodecahedra, so it's okay I guess?

Regardless, it's a bit of a bummer for you. I'll be looking for a trade with you soon (I have to finish a couple more of my mod and get one sent out before hand, but I'm hoping you'll like it when I make a post on it.)

I have got a very nice Dodecahedron from Josh B and a Trajber's Octahedron from David Calzone.
Anyway, I've ordered the 3 puzzles from Witeden because
- they are not expensive
- I can compare them with my custom made puzzles only, if I have them in my hands

I just ordered all 3 of them (along with some other puzzles) all in black from WitEden. I do already own a custom built (not by you) Trajber's Octahedron which I paid "top dollar" for (~$100) which I consider to be a total piece of crap so I'm happy these came out and are so affordable.

I, too, ordered the three black puzzles and I, too, have some Trajber Octahedrons.
One made by Hidetoshi - fantastic workmanship, the other a factory made one from 1981.
I want to compare them to the new ones.

NO.:QJ8012
These (white body color) have receipted today already,
NO.:QJ8008 (white body color ) will receipt tomorrow.

Because QJ factory business is very good, and the worker is not enough,
So the black body color of these will receipt for several days .

I just ordered all 3 in white yesterday + that cool witeden 'gem' cube. Does that mean that my package will be shipped tomorrow? (I selected to ship when all are available). :D

Are white puzzles really popular in China these days? The reason I ask is that it seems that most new puzzles being made in China (these, the KO V-Cubes and many other KOs, the windmill and Fisher’s cube, etc) seem to be made first in white and then eventually (if ever at all) in black.

Personally I prefer black puzzles. I do own a few white puzzles but typically only when black wasn’t available. I still feel a bit ripped off about the set of white V-Cubes I purchased when they first came out and will wait for black ones for any future V-Cube releases.

*Bit of a bump*

I just got these today with my Witeden 'shiny/sparkly' cube. :D They are quite small, I don't have measurements but I'd say that they're smaller than a normal 3x3x3. Movement is okay, but not fantastic. They feel a little bit stiff but they're fun to solve (they didn't take long to figure out ). :D Be careful with the one that looks like a square spaceship, it's very pointy! The edges are quite bad but when you scramble it, it changes shape and the corners are scarily pointy.

Alex

Did you order the white or the black variant?
I've ordered all three of them in black and got a message on March 19th saying that they have problems with black and I had to wait "several days". I could change to white, though.
I said, no thanks.
My order is from March 9th.

Off topic my experience with Witeden so far:
This is my second Witeden order and I'm having problems again.
For my first order I had chosen EMS shipping (at roughly $ 27)
It took 15 days (not Xpress shipment exactly) and I had to pay for shipping and German import tax $76, while the price for the three puzzles themselves was $ 47.
I have decided that I will never use EMS again.
This was the second time that I have ever asked for Express shipment.
(The other occasion was a shipment from C4U via UPS and it arrived after 3 days without any problems at customs)

I want to buy them all in black, but I'm hoping that this isn't going to be a store which will have a bad reputation.

I got them in white + the shiny cube.

It took just over a week to arrive.

The box was weird. :? They were packed in a splitter box.

It took just over a week to arrive.

The box was weird. :? They were packed in a splitter box.

What shipping did you use?

Can you explain, please, what a "splitter box" is?
I have tried looking it up in a dictionary and yes "splitter box" was known, but the German translation was just impossible "das Vorschaltgetriebe" (something mechanical in a car out of iron and steel).

The shipping I used was just the standard shipping I think.

I thought that this might be understood. What I meant was a cardboard box that was meant as packaging for a headphone splitter (splits 1 into 2). :D It was confusing, I thought that they'd messed up and sent me a splitter, but then I thought 'they don't even sell splitters'.

@'witeden' member, it would be much better if you could package puzzles with plain cardboard boxes. That said, all of the puzzles arrived in perfect condition. :D

Bump! This is now avaliable on cube4you.com, but not cubefans. I really wich they'd swap the domains back to what they originally were!

There is way too much stuff coming out now! I can't keep up! But yeah, I have to get the 2x2x2 Dodecahedron.

Today, I've received two 3x3x3 variants made by QJ (ordered from witeden). I have got equivalent custom made puzzles a few month ago:
The QJ Traiber's Octahedron and the Dodecahedron.

To be fair, they do not look bad at all and they turn nicely.
Do I feel robbed?
Certainly, I could not sell my custom puzzles on ebay for an equivalent price that I have paid.
Because I do not intend that, the answer is NO.
Do the builders feel robbed?
They have to answer by themselves. My guess is no, because either collectors still want them or the builders do offer newer designs.
I understand that those two puzzles are fair game and are not perceived as KO.
