Hello everyone!

I am proud to present my newest puzzle:

The Senior Barrel

VIDEO

This puzzle is the next logical step up from a Junior Barrel like the one made by the.drizzle. (I think he was the first one to make it...) Unlike the Junior Barrel, the Senior Barrel has the ability to turn by multiples of 90 degrees, rather than being restricted to 180 degree turns. This allows for shape-changing capabilities!

Here are some more pictures:

FYI: I have been hinting at this puzzle as the "Junior Barrel +" in various places.

Enjoy!

Nice job, I am working on a similar design that I was going to call the senior barrel.

The shape shfting quality is a great addition to such a great puzzle. It looks great!

Great work! It is a nice idea to add the extra cut.

The name Senior Barrel is actually already taken by another puzzle from Meffert's 1982 Catalogue, which is where the idea for the Junior Barrel originally came from.

Thanks for all the complements!

TomZ: I can't see that picture. Could you post a link to it?

Weird. It is just an attachment, so I think all of you should be able to see it just fine. Anyway, here is an alternate link.

Indeed it's not the same as my 1x3x5 barrel, but i had already thought of that concept

I guess you were faster than me and i'm sure the results are better than they would've been with me so... GREAT JOB!

TomZ: I think I'm going to leave the name as the Senior Barrel. Meffert's puzzle is just a fake cardboard mock-up, and was never made. It was so long ago, and no one has actually talked about that puzzle at all on the forum. Not to mention, it seems to be named backwards. Shouldn't the senior barrel be the harder one?

Thanks for the complements!

All your puzzles are great, I wish some of them like this could be mass produced.

Thanks! But it's not exactly the same. The Uncanny Cube has 2 faces that share pieces. The Senior Barrel has none!

I love when you have a new classification challenge, Andreas. It means someone is doing something new!

A sophomore barrel would match me.

Great job on the puzzle, and that pirsquared logo looks pretty sweet too.

It doesn't say pirsquared. It says "eitAn" (with that particular capitalization...) It's my name!

SOLD! Thanks to all the bidders!

I'm definitely going to make at least 1 more, and if I make more than that, I might have 1 or 2 to sell at the Nationals at MIT in August.
