I just ordered one http://www.shapeways.com/model/97468/ma ... aminx.html I don't know if Shim is a member of twistypuzzles forum yet or not, but either way I'm sure he won't mind my posting this. It will be neat to play and solve it, as I've always been able to solve the Pyraminx since I was a child, without algorithms. One neat little difference here is that the edges don't get transferred between adjacent corners like on the classic Pyraminx when you twist them on only two layers. I think it will be a refreshing challenge compared to the classic Pyraminx, without being overly difficult.

I will definitely look into one of these when I see a physical copy of this exact design. I don't doubt it, I just want to see what it looks like built and all. Someone please post pics/video of this when it is built!

Judging by the shape of the parts, the axles connect through to the corner tips as with the classic Pyraminx. The interior edges appear to be squares which hold in the face centers "floating" in place in a similar manner to the Skewb mechanism. So it contains functional elements from both puzzle types.

I can imagine it, but I still want to see it with my eyes.

Yes, thank you for that. Just one more question. Is the price for a fully printed set of pieces; enough to actually make the master pyraminx?

thank you so much! ^^ Don't thank me, thank Shim for making it. funmonkey54 wrote: Yes, thank you for that. Just one more question. Is the price for a fully printed set of pieces; enough to actually make the master pyraminx? if you look at the image posted above, there are 1 core, 6 inner edges, 12 outer edges, 4 centers, 4 caps, etc. Just enough pieces to build one Master Pyraminx. This is the actual layout of the parts as Shapeways prints them in the machine, so you could say it is complete. I believe Shim said the puzzle is somewhat small, hence the lower price tag. At any rate, $95 USD is a deal considering you're getting a higher order custom puzzle. I remember seeing a hand cast Master Pyraminx (made to order) somewhere else for like $400 a couple years ago, although I think it was considerably larger in size. But that is like comparing apples to oranges, especially considering the amount of labor involved.
