The Rubik's cube now seems to be a major threat for the USA.
This so exceptional that I decided it worth a special topic.
(I didn't want to bury it within the 'puzzles in public' topic.)

is this about the airport security in the US?

Yes, it is about airport security - the article is about flights to the US.
But the cube isn't mentioned anywhere in the article.
I guess they showed it as a 'curious' object to the photographer only.
Anyway, I will keep this front page.

Jeez...that's all we need...a "cube" bomber. I suppose it would be possible to put a small amount of an explosive material inside the hollow cubies, so It's just as well that they check.

from my own experience in airport controls, a solved cube in your hand luggage is much more suspicious than an unsolved one, something like 'really you solved that?' 'yes , i finally did '

I sometimes imagine carrying on a Petaminx with me, having them look at it, and smash it on the ground to open it, checking for dangerous substances. Then scooting the pieces back over to me on the floor with their toe, saying "Sorry'.

Of course, I don't have a Petaminx, but a Teraminx will hopefully come soon.
