Hello,
The Rhombiminx as always been one of my favorite puzzles, for solving, and for looks. The problem is that it started out too darn big! The mini rhombiminx was definitely a great improvement, but I wanted to see if it could go even smaller. So, I went about designing my own rhombiminx, to what I believe is the smallest a cast rhombiminx can be made when based off an ES mini 2x2 (minimum 2mm thickness, obviously I could go smaller with a full SLS print.) The final completed puzzle will be about 72 mm tall, or about 31 mm on an edge. Also, one thing I love about this design is that all the pieces can easily be cast with a one part mold. So, I present to you, the raw FDM masters:

This is cool. I think you should add some size reference pictures though.
I think it could be smaller. What if you were to use an ES mini 2x2 as a core?

Whoops, I meant to say ES mini 2x2. It's already based off of one. The open cubie spot you see in the first pic is the size of a ES mini 2x2 cubie, or 12 mm. I will add some size reference pics after the parts are done drying from their solvent bath.

Alumilite molds are the worst! Get some oomoo.

The fuzz is just uber-thin flash that I didn't bother cleaning up after the last casting. And this isn't an alumilite mold, it's Mold Max 30, which is FAR superior to Oomoo.

Nice improvement! I also have contemplated making a smaller version of my mini Rhombiminx but I really like the size of the original (mini) version. Since that would make my third revision of a simple mechanism I figured it wasn't worth trying.
I can't wait to see a video of movement though.

I started out with alumilite and it looks identical.

Was that just masters or the entire puzzle? I'm sure an SLS print would be extremely cheap!

Actually, according to my calculations, a full SLS print would be about $129. I was just saying that my school has extremely cheap 3d printing.
