Oskar is some sort of mad scientist. I don't even know what to think of his puzzles really, they're all incredible.

That is unbelievable. While I'm thoroughly impressed with his inventions (and co-inventions with Bram or however that relationship works), what impresses me the most is the speed in which he cranks out these amazing puzzles. It's almost as though there is an assembly line cranking out a new puzzle every few days.

Actually, that's true, you could probably make an edgeless 3x3 with this design.

These have been turning up on his shapeways page throughout that past two weeks He also has a 2x2x2 version, and a 2x2x3 version! I was drooling over all of them two days ago and trying to explain how it works to my girlfriend. Who became very confused. There is also the H-cube, grid cube, and fractal cube!

I'm like you, Steveo, I've been waiting for him to prototype this for a few weeks. I'm seeing a new theme in his designs, especially those on Shapeways, though I'm not sure I like the Fractal Cube much...

I found this one to be really cool! I would have thought that the price would have been higher! Also, I just noticed: # Members: 1478 # Most recent: Oskar Perhaps this is him? If so, I really do look forward to his posts!

Simply amazing, I love how Oskar treats the laws of physics as "no real barrier". BTW, has Oskar just joined us as our most recent member???

Oscar is a long time member with a large and fine collection (and a very early numbered Neon...) (pictured on the left in the second picture of this post). Oskar is an amazing designer known to many these days (you've seen him in many videos no doubt). Fun fact? Both were at California Cube Evening a few months back Dave

I love this puzzle! It´s like a 3x3x3, but with one layer missing, correct?

Sjoerd wrote: I love this puzzle! It´s like a 3x3x3, but with one layer missing, correct? Close... but something I can't figure out is when a layer can be rotated. Is it any layer that has a face center that can be rotated? Must it have a face center and at least one additional piece? Or can a layer without the face center also rotate? Looking at the video... after the first twist the "missing layer" now has two pieces in it.. an edge and a corner. Could these two pieces rotate by themselves? I'm trying to understand the limitations of this puzzle. As I understand it Katsuhiko Okamoto's floppy cube didn't allow the rotation of just a single piece by itself but that the K.O. did. I don't actually have either puzzle on hand so I'm just repeating what I've heard. Any chance of Oskar and Okamoto teaming up to get this puzzle produced... along with the floppy 2x2x2 and floppy 2x2x3? That would be a dream come true as I'd love to have the full set someday. Carl

It's like the super floppy, so it's a 3x3x3 without an "invisible" layer. You can move pieces out of it by putting pieces into it, I believe.
