I've put together a little Halloween-themed web puzzle:
http://home.comcast.net/~stegmann/halloween/index.htm

No prize or anything, but I'd be curious to see if anyone solves it before the 31st.

I'm open to feedback and have made a few modifications based on some comments, but I am disinclined to make it too easy or to provide too many hints

I'm already lost... The fancy font is confusing too.

OK, I've ditched the fancy font. I just wanted to try CSS downloadable fonts...

That Scythe font looks a lot better when it's installed locally.

If you don't get the concept - one inspiration was a puzzle game I played quite a while ago, called "skyscraper 100" - here is a link (I don't know if the author ever finished it)
http://skyscraper100.googlepages.com/

Now, if the clues seem opaque - well, I meant it to be challenging. And apologies to non-english speakers and those who won't get some cultural references...

Yes, you can bookmark a page you find.

It's not 100 pages - it's far fewer.

I'm stuck on this one: It has another meaning...
Who else would carry such a thing?

I've modified the page - hopefully it's not now too easy...

Be advised, they get more difficult.
But I don't think any of them are unfair :-)

The intent is to have you use a wide variety of web info tools and in the process maybe find some interesting Halloween-related factoids and unexpected relationships.

I don't think you should change the pages. :?
I've been stuck at the fifth word and I don't ask for more clues. I'm happy trying to solve a difficult riddle. :D
I believe the updated riddle is waaaay to obvious now; it was perfect before. :)

Just my 2 cents.

Skarabajo.

I have the answer to that one but I'm stuck on the next. Who would be a famous illustrator of the macabre? Do we have to have the full name or just the first?

As per the initial instructions, you need both: first name and last name (remember not to use caps or spaces)

This is not a clue, but just a warning: you need to remember all the words, I'm at the 13th word and it seems that I need all 13 words (in order) to get to the 14th, which might be the last one!... This is a great challenge! I'm loving every minute of it! :D

EDIT: Solved! Hats off to Rob. What a great challenge and yes, some nice unexpected relationships. I don't want to give it away, but it was a nice trip culminating in a suitable overlay in Google Earth (Sky). :D

Aaah Rob! What are you doing to me? This is a GREAT game, but no time for me right now!!!
I have played something similar before, and it is very addictive!

Anybody else complete it yet?
I'm going to add a list of the first 10 solvers to the final page.

PM me if you're stuck and tell me some of your wrong guesses - I might add some dead end/hint pages.
