Most of you already know that my track record with V1 puzzles is not good. In fact, the past two puzzles i've created before this one are very expensive paperweights, and are awaiting a complete revision. So I am pleased to inform everyone, that I finally made a V1 puzzle that isn't a complete and total failure! Hopefully my other secret puzzles will be fixed soon and I will have some more puzzles to show you.

A more detailed thread will come later. Right now this puzzle is being mailed to Drew for stickers, pictures, and a video. Stay tuned.

Also, I am requesting that people refer to this puzzle as a Master Dino Cube, and not a Lattice cube.

I am well aware that it has already been made.
My logic was, there are many standard (one of a kind) puzzles such as the Skewb that have been mass produced and are now being expanded into higher order cubes. It occured to me that the Dino Cube has been in the dark with all these expansions. Therefore, I began designing one to get a head start, but it appears that I am behind on the times...

O well.

Or, a pile of blocks that could be a for any puzzle. When I hurd that the kiss cubes were going rare I made a pile like that from a cut down corner.

As for the puzzle, why do you prefer that we refer to it as Master Dino and not Lattice cube? Is it because you built it and not Okamoto? It looks great btw.

If you count the 2 near the front. That's kinda what gave me the hint because I saw the screw there, and I wondered what that could be, figured it was 2 1x2x3s, then saw the ones in the back and assumed the same thing.

I'd put money on it that those are 1x2x3's, remember the long waiting list on bedardpuzzles for them? And they do look like 1x2x3s also, I think potatospades is right

Well that definitely is a more logical answer (1x2x3's) in fact if you look at it as a 2x3x7 it looks quite messy and not very stable, yet once again he has said most his V1's were unsuccessfull large paperwieghts. however noting the size of the screwdriver i would guess it is quite small, giving more reasoning to the 1x2x3. Also by the looks of it the master dino cube looks to be a nice comfortable size

Actually, had I zoomed out of this picture further you would end up seeing a couple of new puzzles which I am not ready to show everyone yet. But to answer your question, there are on my desk way more 1x2x3s then I care to count again. I think I have like half of the waiting list on my desk, I just haven't stickered them yet.

Im glad to be one of the first to see this finished, it looks phenominal, i cant wait to try to make one of these by hand.

Wow. So you use a pairing-up-method and than solve like a dino cube. I solved that puzzle two or three times on the computer and I always solved the inner rainbow cube and than went on for the outer corners. I never got less than 16 minutes I think it was. Your first solve was way faster. Seems to be the better method. Thumbs up!

I actually prefer the name Master Dino for this puzzle. I would consider that to be the standard. Lattice Cube is just what Okamoto decided to call it.

I find that there are two different views on naming puzzles. Some people seem to be against calling the same puzzle something different. Whereas others think that no one else should use the name they chose for their puzzle...even if someone else makes an identical puzzle. I think people should be able to use any name they want...even it it's taken.

silly question though... what is the difference between a Master Dino and a Master Skewb?

Big difference, look at the two closely together.

Wow!!! Nice! I noticed from the video and this picture that it looks like it should also be able to move like a normal Skewb. I assume it can't as that wouldn't be called a Master Dino Cube I don't think. But I'm curious has that puzzle been named? Add the functionality of a normal Skewb to this and what would it be called? I doubt I'm the first to think of this possibility.

Do you mean a puzzle that looks and functions exactly like a Master Dino except it can also turn like a Skewb? If so, then no...that has not been made or named. I would name it...something like...Master Dino Skewb or Skewb Master Dino. Just so people know exactly what it is and how it functions.

The difference between the Master Dino and the Master Skewb is that the Master Skewb is cut deeper so that each turn, first layer and second layer, takes three additional corners with the corner that was turned. That probably sounds a little confusing, but that's how it works.

Yes, that is what I meant. It just looks like the next logical step from this puzzle. I figured there would be a Java version of it named somewhere by now even if that puzzle hadn't yet been physically constructed.

Great work on this puzzle! How is the size compared to a Rainbow Cube? Did you use one as a base of sorts?

(Maybe this + Skewb could be called a Lattiskewb if it's ever made?)
