Hi all, I've updated my homepage. Well, sort of. I'm still almost a year behind, but at least I got some work done. I realize the quality of the pictures is not great... Also: In the future I would like to have separate pages for the categories. We'll see when that will happen. Here it is, enjoy: http://amor.rz.hu-berlin.de/~h0444vtp/collection.htmlCelia

It may just be my ISP but it took forever to load all those images....maybe consider putting groups of them on separate pages? I only got to see the first 10 or so pics cuz they were taking so long to load :/

Hello Celia, here's a little constructive criticism... trixter wrote: It may just be my ISP but it took forever to load all those images... Well... downloading over 150 files for a total of 10MB to render one unique page will be a little slow for almost any connection and almost any browser. Celia, this will change when you separate pages into categories like you said. Maybe in the meantime, batch-resave all the images with a little more compression (Photoshop does great batch processing of images). Celia wrote: I realize the quality of the pictures is not great... Maybe you are talking about the final result seen in the browser vs. seen in your graphic editing software. Don't let the browser resize your images; code them to have the exact size they were created in. If you need to resize them a little, go back to the original in your graphic editing software and do it there. Browsers use a fast resampling algorithm and the result is not great. Besides that, impressive collection Celia, can't wait to see the rest when you update again. Skarabajo.

Celia, I've looked at your puzzle page many times over the past year or so-I can't remember when I first found it. I just loved the idea of the prices and attempted to copy that until my husband saw a few, then the prices had to come down. I'm envious that you have feamarkets and can get such good finds. If it makes any difference, I have never had problems with the pictures loading. It works fine for me.

Hi,
thanks for the replies.
Wow, for me it doesn't take that long to load, either. But you're right about the amount of pictures. That's one of the reasons I want to have separate pages for the categories. So far I've tried to downsize the pictures: They are small (320x240 px) and I have saved them in 70% quality. That way the file size is around 50 KB. That's what I meant about the quality of the pictures. So far I have no clue about photoshop and such. I guess it will have to be the next thing on the list.

Hi celia, First of all, you have a very nice collection. It's not my first time I see your puzzle-side Additional to the comments from Skarabajo and trixter, I want to say the same thing about the pictures in the web. I think, it's important to weboptimize all your pictures. Keep in mind: Not everybody in the world has a broadband LAN. Have a look at IrfanView, it's a small freeware Picture Tool. There is a plugin named "save for web". You can make a batch conversion to weboptimize all your pictures in one workstep, for this small work you need no Photoshop! With this step you can reduce smoothly your one HTML-Side from 10 MB to 3 MB without a big loss in quality. Here is my example for your picture "tantrixgame.JPG": Your size is: 154 KB (1) After weboptimizing with IrfanView: 25 KB (2) Do you see a big difference between your original picture (1) and my weboptimized pic (2)? LosBanditos,
thank you for that comment! IrfanView is what I use, but as I said, I have no clue about what I'm doing when it comes to pictures. I will definitely give this a try though, your pictures might help me with that. I'm planning on working on the different pages for each category today. We'll see if that actually happens, as I have to go out and do some other stuff first. While I work on that I will look into weboptimizing the pictures, as well. I'll post again when that's done.

I'm flattered! I suppose I will not update that particular picture then. Okay, I restructured the English part of my homepage. I have not done anything with the pictures yet and also not to the German page. This was already more work than I had anticipated. All (sub-)categories have their own page now. Here's the link again (saving you the time to scroll ) http://amor.rz.hu-berlin.de/~h0444vtp/collection.html

Okay, the new German version is up, too. Also I have added the shortcuts to what was new in 2008 (as you requested, Frank ). Still no work on the pictures though. I have downloaded Riot but don't know how to get to it. I'll keep trying tough.

I very much enjoy looking at the homepages of other collectors as well. Sorry I don't update more often. There are still some puzzles which I bought in 2008 still sitting in a box in my living room, waiting to be included.
