It will be good to see this. Also looking forward to seeing the physical prototype if one exists yet (especially the larger versions).

Not to be too skeptical, but we haven't even seen a blurry prototype picture of anything yet. Any chance we can see something (anything) on the 6x6x6 or 7x7x7?

OK, i have been out for a while but looking here it seems like someone has found some way to make cubes going up to 11x11x11 . Is this for real and if so ... WHEN :?: :?: :?:

I noticed they dont list a 1x1x1 as one of their ideas, perhaps the mechanisim is far too complex (or impossible) to produce.

I for one have seen this website a long while ago, and I don't know what to think. I am leaning towards non-existant, but would LOVE to be proved wrong. I personally would love an 11x11x11 cube, at any cost. But franly, this seems a little inconceivable at the moment. If it were mefferts or rubiks that came out with 6x6x6's and 7x7x7's I wouldn't hesitate, but this no name "brand" is leaving me with large doubts. Once, again I'd love to be proved wrong

On another note, anyone know what happened to LaurentB and his 6x6x6? I have seen the 3 photos of it he has on his website...but nothing more. I'd love to see it in person, maybe give it a few twists :D

Does anyone else have any plans for larger cubes? I remember a mention of being able to use the method Mirko Dobnik used to make his 3x3x3 in a sphere....

while we are on this subject, i would like to see more pictures of the 6x6x6. i would really like a size comparision between it and a 3x3x3.
Sandy do you plan on putting the 6x6x6 on the web page?

I would like to, but Laurent didn't respond to my message in the original thread... or anyone else's message for that matter. I forgot to follow up via e-mail. I'll do that now.

Hello again!
I think that my rank is 1x1x1 so we even have one.
I would love to ask the moderators what my rank will be if my claims are true?
Also i want to notice that we wait 25 years for a good solution, can' t wait 2 more months for a perfect physical 6x6x6, 7x7x7 ?
does the forum want a shape for an 6x6x6 cube like this?(see attachments)
Again, we will announce our greek patent number in few days!!

FYI, The rank system is just a fun little graphic that indicates the number of posts you have made on the forum. Read more about it under the Please Read Me First announcement thread.

I noticed that this 6x6x6 design is different than the one shown on the first page of Olympic Cube site. Was the original plan to make a perfectly cubical 6x6x6?

Hello again!

I know about the rank system. I was just joking as an answer to a user named skeneegee.
As u can see in the details of the attachement this is a picture of Olympic cube 6b that is not included in our web page yet, but it will be in few months when we will refresh our site. In our web page u can see Olympic cube 6a.
So, the question is: What shape does the forum prefer for mass product?
(if the moderators want, they can ask every visitor with a banner or something)
Thanks!

I'm not sure what you're asking. Do you mean to ask what size of cube (6x6x6, 7x7x7, etc) we would prefer? Or do you mean to ask what shape of puzzle (pillowed or cubical) we would prefer?

Sandy

My guess is he means the latter. I personally would prefer a regular cube (not pillowed).

Aleksey.

Wow, I finally took the time to read the whole article from the first post. So, these large puzzles are actually going to become available (and for speedcubing) What size are these going to be? Are any of the dimensions posted? I look forward to seeing these in the near future.

Jaap (do you plan to have a solution for these monsters)

Isn't there a website that you can play with these large cubes online? I thought someone had a page with virtual large cubes.

I personally would prefer the cubic version, however the curved one looks interesting.

if i was you i would produce both types of cube(A and B) it would be like haveing two whole diffrent products and you would have people who perfer each cube buying it instead of just the people who perfer the cube you would have chose + the people on this fourm would be so overwelmed that they would either die of shock or buy both :D

Because of the large number of pieces needed to cocnstruct this puzzles, I don't expect them to be cheap. It is a valid question to ask which one we prefer to maximize the probability of selling them. Just like Meffert. Personally, I would rather have the Flat version first as an extension of the NxNxN. If you later sell one with the rounded sides, I'll buy one too.

I would prefer the flat regular version for a 6x6x6. Anything larger than that, the more rounded shape would be fine. I think the rounded shape would be easier to work with on the bigger puzzles. A flat 6x6x6 would make it look like a normal rubik's type puzzle and not a custom puzzle.

On the pillow-shaped cubes, is it possible for the shape to change? Can the middle edge pieces get flipped around so that the surface is no longer smooth? If so, I think a shaped cube becomes more interesting than just another cube.

It is really exciting to hear news of these puzzles. Best of luck to you.

I certainly hope they are smooth turning puzzles. With the pieces extending down so far to the core I think that might potentially pose a problem. Hopefully nothing that a little lube can't fix. Damn I am excited.

I have some questions for you to answer.

Do you accept any of the following payment types? Pay Pal? Money Order? or any others types to?

Would you happen to know the price of the 6x6x6 cubes at all?

How many are you going to be making of the 6x6x6 cubes?

Are they going to be coming in some type of boxes or just packing boxes with bubble wrap?

Can I make a suggestion? I don't think anyone likes the paper stickers of the new Rubik's cubes. I would like to see vinyl stickers, tiles, or even better having the color built in the cubes.

Flush tiles would be the ultimate in cool if you ask me. It would also give them a unique look.

The olympic cube No 6a will be 69x69x69(mm).
it will have stickers of good quality and also a nice package.
the product line is for 1000 cubes and they will be ready by the end of september.
puzzle friends would have the opportunity to order through the web(visa-paypal) and they will play one week after the order.
All the cubes will have a guarantee for their stability and smoothness.
We will show video samples by the middle of augoust.
Anyone who want to help mentally or morally is welcome.
Olympic cube No7 will be ready by the end of November.
Do the moderators want to mention this news on the main page?

thanks

ive seen the site before a while back and i am just as excited as the rest of you.. although my measily 20 bucks a weeks might not be fast enough to buy such large cubes...to think a 5x5 is $30-$50 a 6x6 might be over a months savings...i dont even want to think about 11x11 *passes out*

Will production of the 6a be limited to just 1000 pieces? And why is there a "6b" on the website, are there plans to produce that as well?

I was just searching through the form and I found a picture of a of a 4 order Megaminx(Dodcahedron) below.

viewtopic.php?t=611&start=0

This is what a normal 3 order Megaminx looks like below if you didn't know allready.

http://web.usna.navy.mil/~wdj/megam.htm

They did have 5 order megaminx but its not up at all and I'd tryed seaching for it but no luck.

My question is Are you by chance going to be making any Megaminxes higher order then 3 at all?

I know I'd love to have a higher order Megaminxes along with the higher order cubes that your going to make soon. Dear God I hope I don't delay the cubes at all. If I did I'm very I'm sorry!!!

I'm just guessing here, but it looks like the 6a is a cube and 6b is somewhat rounded. 6a is likely to have corners just barely connected, which is probably the motivation for 6b.
