After I made this, he asked if it was ok that he makes one and sells it on Ebay. Despite my response, he listed it anyway! This isn't a first! When I started the Trajber's Octahedron list, he was quick to let me know that he'd be selling them also, and at a lower price to undercut me. I would have been worried if the quality was any good!
This is just another example of the inconsiderate and rude behavior that seems to be growing around here. I'll be listing the second one I built shortly!

I see where your coming from Calzone, but I don't see a 4x4 HexDipyramid as something you can "claim" as your own. The idea of it is relatively easy to execute and it's more of a race to who makes it first, not who conceptualizes it. I don't think he even needs to ask your permission.
But if he was to sell a Tribulus, that'd be a different story. You know what I mean?

I think the problem is that he asked Calzone for permission as a courtesy, and when Calzone said no, he still made one and sold it. My attitude is if you are going to bother asking, you should listen to the answer of the person you are asking instead of disrespecting the original builder. If you want to really get technical, though, Adam Zamora was the first to build one.

I haven´t been selling Trajbers Octahedrons... i made ONE and sold it to a canadian i told him that you make good ones and he should buy yours because mine isnt best quality. I just said good things about you sorry if it wasn´t what you were expecting

Why bother asking if you're not going to respect the answer anyway. cubefan8 wrote: If you want to really get technical, though, Adam Zamora was the first to build one. I agree. Listen, I'm not going to pretend to be a saint. I've sold a couple of puzzle that were questionable to say the least, but I wasn't stupid enough to ask them first, and then do it anyway! It's just aggravating. The first one that I made was sold privately, and I had hoped to protect the value of it when/if I listed another on Ebay (with a reserve, BIN, etc.).

Here's one built may 30, 2006 by Adam Zamora. viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4750. I think you already found it though judging from one of your comments. There is a lot of issues with who can put what puzzles on ebay. I think it's kind of dumb, but in some cases there may be some true inventing to a puzzle that should be protected. Even if we at twistypuzzles stands true to this repect someone will always ignore it. I guess that's going to happen unless people start getting pattents. I have been considering putting a 4x4x4 hexigonal dipyramid on ebay for over a year now, but I have been putting it off.

Again, and not to speak for Calzone, but I don't think he's trying to claim any rights to this puzzles. He recognizes the fact that Adam made one three years ago. All he's saying is that David (Kickflip1993) asked about making one, and when Calzone said no he went on with his plan anyway.

I did not make any statements that he was claiming it as his own, I was just showing another 4x4x4 hexigonal dipyramid. Why is anyone asking him for permission, and why is he saying no?

That's a good question, I see no need for permission as there is no statement like Tony's about what can and can't be sold.

Hopefully you can all just drop it after this. There was no need for my permission. I'm not the creator of the puzzle he's auctioning, but if you ask me, then you've opened up the door for me to respond in whatever way I choose. Please drop it, and let him get on with his auction/life.

I agree, everyone that has posted this Calzone photo should remove it. Some people think the rules don't apply to them.
