I am wondering what you think sells for more?
A custom puzzle, never been made before, custom mech and everything
Or a Mod on an existing puzzle?

This differs from the quality of the puzzle. Is the praxis cube been perfected? Or just first try...
How is filling/capping done on half truncated cube. I think there are no standard prices for custom puzzles.

Supply Vs. Demand
Time it takes to make the puzzle --> Craftsmanship --> Quality... All factors in the selling price.
Also - who made the puzzle and how much s/he wants to sell the puzzle for.
And - a normal production puzzle could sell a lot more than a custom puzzle. i.e. original dogic's.
There's no set in stone formula as to what puzzle sells for more.

You have to take an ES 4x4, expose the hidden middle layer on one of the axes, then shift all the other cubie faces up 1/2 of a cubie. So there is a LOT of work to be done, although the core TECHNICALLY doesn't need to be modified.
But remember, don't build things to make money. Build it because you enjoy it, and sell to keep building.

I know Crazy ^^, just need to figure out which to make first so I can get some cash to make better puzzles and things, like I'll have more money to pay for prototypes and stuff.

Some may not remember, but the first half-truncated cube by Wayne Johnson was sold for over $200. That was in 2002 if I am not mistaken. The major thing here is the originality of the new puzzle. But after that the major thing is how difficult it is to reproduce the puzzle. With that in mind, many custom puzzles are extremely difficult to reproduce with the same quality, and in most cases they can be made by the author only, purely for the fact that he has the technology (a model in CAD). The rest is simply an issue of supply and demand.

This is a very complex question and I could literaly bore everyone to tears (or bring the topic to a grinding halt) with my long winded opinion. I'll keep it really short by just saying that 3D modeling by itself can achieve some wonderful shapes and puzzles that hand making cannot, but hand making a puzzle is perhaps more indicative of someone who is good at working with their hands. There. I had to stop myself several Times from writing a treatise on the subject.

In some cases mods are so extreme, they become custom. read: Tony Fisher. And in his case, most of his mods go for more than most custom puzzles. But I guess if we're splitting hairs, the most expensive ones are Drew's Teraminx, and those are completely custom, so checkmate.
