The pieces would have to be heavily modified, the points of the pyraminx would be tricky to make I think, but hey, prove me wrong! P.S. Jared, you're not thinking outside the box enough, we have to wait for a face turning master octahedron and we could get a V-Pyraminx 6 ! (Sorry for the pathetic name, I've only just thought of it!) A master face-turning Octahedron would actually make the 7x7 equivalent of the Pyraminx, I believe.

so the 3x3x5 idea is it.
being able to look at some pictures would help so much. I have been fighting this desigh in my head and on paper for a while.
would you think it would be harder to make it from a keychain skewb, besides from the fact that I dont have the octahedron shape or hollow center pieces yet.

It would be harder to hand make with a keychain skewb. The parts would have less tolerance for sizing errors which are common with hand made puzzles. Not to mention starting with the skewb diamond shape was a great head start.
Out of respect for the original design I won't be posting any mechanism pics, but it really is nothing more than the extensions for the 3x3x5 or the 1/3 layers of a 1x2x3 (look up my pen and paper sketch of that mechanism).

I dont see why you wont post pictures of internals. but I respect your choise
thank you!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
I can't believe how well it turns! then again it was made by you. it looks great! how fragile is it? it seems really solid to me!

The puzzle turns well but the Skewb core has an inherent drawback. Skewb Diamonds are a bit "squishy," moreso than the regular Skewb. Because of this it's actually somewhat easy to get the puzzle slightly out of alignment. If that happens the pieces tend to bind a bit since I haven't yet finished rounding all of the sharper edges. And because of the puzzle's inherent squishiness (is that even a word???) it's possible to do a half slice through the skewb part and then rotate a tip, forcing the puzzle to come apart. Basically because of the puzzle's size (being much larger than an Okamoto Master Pyraminx) the inherent looseness of the pieces is magnified and pieces can be forced where something with tighter tolerances won't allow it. In other words, if Uwe Meffert believes that the keychain Skewb mechanism is too fragile to be the basis for a mass produced Master Pyraminx, then I'll probably have to add to it and say that the regular Skewb mechanism, as it is, is ultimately not suitable for that puzzle either. I'll have to explore the possibility of using a straight Pyraminx as the basis for the Master Pyraminx. Good thing I bought several DIY kits a while back to experiment with. Not to say that the puzzle isn't darn fun to play with. Because it's sooo fun. I'll just need to go the extra step of rounding edges and points more to decrease the odds of lockup (and spectacular pops) so that the puzzle is easier to spin. The puzzle makes a lot of racket because I also tried to retain the click mechanism of the Skewb AND the Pyraminx puzzles that its' based on. Retaining the click mechanism from the Pyraminx was a chore but I think it helps improve stability a little. In fact I might have to go back and make the non-trivial tips click as well, which will also help alignment. Right now they spin freely (as you can hear from the video) so tend to get out of alignment if you even touch them a little. Maybe I made the mechanism a bit too smooth. Is it even possible to have such a problem? Yea, when the puzzle is this size it can be a bit of a bother.
