I've just finished the first of the next generation Rhombiminxs. This is the kind I will be making for Bedard Puzzles: DLitwin cut the stickers, and the clean look of machined-cut stickers really adds a professional look to the puzzle IMO.

Looks a zillion times better than the old one IMO. Although - and maybe this is just me - the "red" side looks like it's got two colors in a checkered pattern.

Yes, this definitely looks better than what I remember of the original. As far as the red side, it looks completely normal to me.

Looks pretty normal to me too and I have the thing in person Maybe I'm just not that sensitive to red? or did we screw up the stickers again... Anyways I'll have some better pics up in a couple minutes once I upload them.

That looks so much better than the older version. Great work! So this makes it version 3?

Actually I would rather think of it as revision 3, because nothing has fundamentally changed with the puzzle or it's mech, just better precision. More pics with better lighting: With my new "Sea Krait" Elemental:Neon built by DLitwin La sigh. I can see the red sticker problem now that I've seen it in better lighting. Bummer.

Yes, in the last picture of the first set and in the 3rd and 5th of this set, I can now see that the red is actually checkerboarded.

Wow, it looks even better with stickers! Amazing, I love it. Bounb wrote: Wow, now that really looks excellent. Plastic sheet rather than casting this time? Yea, I used molding/casting. I had a new master 3D printed this time rather than hand building the master. The stickers are machine cut too, so that adds extra polish to the design.

This looks amazing! Can I ask, are the extensions hollow? Or are they solid like revision #2?

Semi hollow. It uses a stair-step structure:

Theres a couple of changes "under the hood" as well with how I made the core. Nothing too different though.

It still is based on an ES 4x4. I just truncated the core differently. The last two I made (IIRC) had the layers fully rounded, these are just truncated until they don't impede movement. A small change with no positive or negative effect on the final puzzle, but it makes it 10x easier to build the core. Still requires 24 casts to make (only 6 less than a gigaminx per part)...must make new molds

Sigh. The red is my fault. When I cut the original set of stickers I designed the file with mirror shapes, but then when I went to cut in a batch just took one half and copied it 20 times. I re-cut the mirrored shapes, but it seems the red wasn't from exactly the same set of vinyl. The TechShop stock must have changed, so they are slightly different. OK, round three: I will send another set of reds to match the mirrored reds (I still have some vinyl from that cutting session). I won't let such a nice puzzle have such a flaw. Dave

Yes, there will be black ones made. I need to get more black resin first though.

Just watched the video. That thing really looks good. It's so tight compared to your earlier versions, and turns really nicely. Great job.
