As I have done in the past, I had made sure sto the seller that the reason I bid was because of that label. If it was a new custom one, it cannot be rare. Therefore the auction is misleading and I will get my money back. (and yes, it has happened to me a couple times before, but that's the name of the game!) Jason... you also *just* beat me for that Cheese. Congrats! Only one thing, you forgot to write done the prices: $259.64 for the huge magic! (sadly, I live in Australia, that would have been wonderful to place as a gate door LOL - and I would had given Jason a better run for his money! ). $274.69 for the cheese. Finally, 52 euros for the rare(?) square-1 derivative like puzzle Pantazis

I'll be sure to make a post about the oversized Magic tiles and any info I get with them! LOL but it is me who have losted count of the times I lost to you! But I must admit, you are a very worthy and fair opponent, and it is good to see such items ending up to this forum's members. io wrote: I found a picture of the super square 1 core: http://alexgohblogs.blogspot.com/2008/0 ... are-1.htmlIt does indeed seem to be the core of the rare number puzzle. Definitely misleading!! Indeed. There is a very fine line between a collectable and a new mod. As a collector, I am prepared to pay enough to get a rare puzzle, while as a mathematician, I can't stand some newly made mods for which I would never even bother to twist. So you can imagine how it feels when a rare puzzle is proved to be a common mod. It makes my blood boil!!! Grrr.... Time for the seller to issue a refund. Pantazis

So. Who's giving me a Cheese for, say, an Astrolabacus and some other small item (to compensate for the total cost)? Sadly, I don't watch auctions as fervently now as I used to, mostly due to that I try not to spend money on puzzles. (Huh! Did I tell you that it's almost impossibly anyway?)

He is an outstanding puzzle builder, indeed. I am just surprised about the price, when it is possible to get a incredible Master Tetrahedron for $400. But that's ebay... (got fooled or seduced often enough myself ) - Frank -

Seller domingosito cleans up on Buy It Now auctions: A padlock puzzle for $99.99 buy it now? Perhaps I should put mine up on eBay. It is interesting, but I never thought it would be that price... To be fair, it is the German version, in the packaging. ...then this for $150? Finally a Gripple for $99? I own all of these puzzle and think of them as not overly rare, yet in one day they net $350... Dave

You all are going to think I'm really dumb* but I just realized that each of the light green center tiles can slide out and rotate! I've only had this puzzle for about 10 years $99 for that. No way. Not even with instructions! This seller has put a lot up at very high prices. He must have raided an old toy warehouse. *I probably am

The seller didn't deem to answer my question regarding this. You are quite right, Georges. And I was already planning on posting a picture on the Rubik's Sajt page as soon as my cheese arrives. In fact, it was that topic which made me realize that I *needed* a cheese in the first place. I was very surprised that nobody outbid me on this auction, especially you Georges. Although my maximum bid was considerably higher than the final price, it was by no means unbeatable, since I had just forked out alot on a used Rubik's cheese a few days earlier. This pattern seems to be happening to me alot: First I bought a domino, then a few weeks later I was able to get one in package for the same price. Later on I bought an octahedron and a few days later I was again able to get a sealed star puzzler for about the same amount. And now I got an unopened cheese a lot cheaper than the used one I bought a couple of days earlier. Not that I am complaining... I am very happy with my luck, considering that someone bought these olympic rings from the same seller for more than my unopened cheese: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=230312541888Olympic rings in used condition for £175. By the way, I was also able to get a white magellan from the same seller for £27: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=230312324793I used to think the Rubik's Sajt was a very rare puzzle, but I have seen six of them auctioned just during the last two months. I know that a few of them were already mentioned on the Rubik's Sajt page, but I will list them here for future price reference: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200258384063A Rubik's cheese (the version with the grey/white pieces) in good condition with some light surface marks and a bit discoloration on some parts for $225. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=350124702938A Rubik's cheese in excellent condition with few surface scratches for $350. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=200276710585A rubik's cheese with surface scratches and a bit loose mechanism for $275. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=360109233848Another Rubik's cheese for $275. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=200282590631A rubik's cheese in excellent condition with few surface scratches for $318. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=230312536807A Rubik's cheese unopened in package for £162 (about $240).

(Even though I don't intend on selling it. ) Some heads (the disney ones) are quite rare. Darth Maul isn't. They go for around $5-$20. Depending on how many persons are bidding on the particular one. Mefferts once had a license from Disney to produce the heads, but once it expired Disney wanted too much to elongate it. So they had to quit production. Except for one set Meffert keeps and will keep for himself they're out of stock.

Mefferts still sells Mickey heads on his site, as well as different puzzle balls.

May I just point out to some of you that the name of this thread is "Items you don't see everyday or that sold for a high price". Some of you are posting stuff that sold for cheap, sorry if I come across as mean but my OCD kicks in

Anyway, I have one auction I've wanted to post, but I can't find it. The "Smart Toy Shop" on Ebay had a Transparent Axis Cube up for auction. I think it got removed, anyone have the link?

A collection of 6 very well made mods (may even be factory made by the looks of them) without stickers sold for BIN $600. white Square One Diamond (a cuboctahedron version of a Square One) white Brillicube white Rubik's Edge (edges only 3x3x3) white Square Two black 1x2x3 black 5 layer Square One Since these were sold from China, and considering the professional look of them, I wonder if we're going to start seeing mass produced versions of these for sale. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=011
