Hi, in the attached picture I show you the three puzzles from the group of sharp truncations I have built over the last months. The left one is the only new one. The other two where posted each in a group of other mods.
"Sharp Truncations" means that they are built with the same technique of truncating a 3x3x3. The left and the right one have received some minor extensions. I made a forth variant (Cheops Cube) a while ago without knowing that it uses the same technique. I analysed how many other variants are there which could be made with this technique of truncation. I came up with 916 variants of which only 54 are highly symmetric (=> number of different symmetries per variant less or equal 16).
Another reason to post this was a PM I received a while ago where I was asked whether the Dodecahedron is a regular one. Answer: Not purposely and therefore: NO
BTW: The signatures of the four variants are 52882000 (Keilwürfel; on the left) 1810452882060 (Dodecahedron; in the middle) 154000AA000 (Sharp Octahedron; on the right) AA000 (Cheops Cube; no picture here)

I really like the first one! It looks like a modern church architecture or something. Nice job on all of them.

I really like the dodecahedron, not only because I have one of these made by Andreas. I got another one made for me by Anthony,

I really need to know if the dodecahedron is a regular dodecahedron (are all the sides the same size). And if they are, how do you make one??? I know someone generously put out a tutorial, but I can't follow it.

Steryne, try this thread out. I figured it out! After looking at this thread I saw that you had already made the non-truncating one like I thought. So it could only be an octahedron made from the truncated cube featured in this thread. I figured it was this one because this octa looks smaller than the non-truncated one. For further illustration, I think it's the one circled.. Also: Andreas Nortmann wrote: Yes. The second from left is the new one. Marco guessed right. The appropriate Octahedron was started yesterday with another really new (but stupid) puzzle and 2 half-new puzzles.

@Steryne: Supermans link to the original post should answer any question considering the build of this mod. If not feel free to ask another one. Speaking about the regularitiy: Because it is just a truncation mod it is NO regular dodecahedron. Can Geert or Georges please take some measures to prove that? @Superman: Right again. But wrong thread

He has another method, but don't ask me any details. I'm more into collecting and playing then modding and building.
