I won't tell you how long it took me to work that out (my first number had an E showing on the calculator.) I think it's an amazing puzzle, and if I didn't have my tuition payment due at the end of the month, I would have bid much higher than I did. I am so jealous of the winner and the auction isn't even over yet. This is one of those puzzles that some of us dream about being near. To say nothing about owning.

I was outbid immediately as well. But I knew I would be. I just wanted to be able to say I bid on this.

I checked the auction this morning, and was VERY surprised by the current bid. (I actually said something out loud that I will not be posting here... ) Great luck with the auction! Adam p.s. If you think of it on a price per part basis, it is actually very inexpensive...

You sure about that? 2k in one day is a pretty good pace toward 5k.

So what is the highest amount paid for a puzzle so far? I don't think a gigaminx went for this much...?

flambore wrote: Ok, I kinda meant something without jewels. As in something custom made like this teraminx. Good save. In terms of "highest price paid" as you said, I recall a Toru puzzle sold for $1532 on eBay. A few other puzzle auctions independently sold for $1525. (The coincidental prices are doubtless because $25 is the minimum bid increment in this price range.) But to puzzle purists these aren't astronomical prices. Non-twisty puzzles regularly sell for thousands. For example GarE Maxton's puzzles sell in the $300-$7500 range. And they do sell. My point is that the Teraminx is likely to be appreciated by many elite class puzzle collectors who don't ordinarily buy custom twisty puzzles. They happily spend this much to obtain a puzzle they feel embodies a very special creativity, artistry, or meaningful achievement. Don't sweat the price itself, the bids in this range represent votes of deep respect and admiration.

This is the exciting part. I love to see the price soar at the last minute. I noticed it hasn't moved in a few days, but be prepared to see some major sniping. Good luck Drew!

Only 5 hours left and It is very safe to say that yet again the record was beaten, but only this time the record was completly shattered. The highest selling auction record was a tie between Tyler Fox's Gigaminx and the. drizzle's Contoured Mastermorphix at $1525. This record was beaten by the.drizzle with his Toru Buy-It-Now, which got the record by $7 more at a price of $1532. Then along comes Drewseph with the Teraminx which is currently at $2275. Almost a $1000 dollar differnce. Wow!

This is the first of what I'm sure will be many many congratulations on an amazing puzzle and an equally awesome price tag. Congratulations Drew!

Well that was anticlimatic. 2,275 is still pretty awesome for a puzzle though.

I forgot to wonder as well, is the teraminx's happy new owner one of the forum members?
