So I've been struggling to get my 5x5x5 under 4 minutes, and I'm familiar with chain solving the edges. No issue there. I've been practicing with doing the 6gen edges with the 4x4x4 but I'm curious as to how I should apply this to cubes larger than this.

Do I solve part of the edge, store it and then come back to it? I guess I'm just confused about how I should approach it because the 4³ is pretty straight-forward.

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated

CORRECTION: 6 GEN is the wrong way of naming that.
Gen always refers to the number of faces you would use for an algorithm.
For instance the 3-cycle of edges with only RU moves is a 2 GEN algorithm.

You are referring to 6 AT A TIME edges. I still wonder who started this error since a lot of people are making it lately...

Answer to your question: 6 at a time on a 5x5 works like a charm but somehow recognition is slow and times bad for me.

I would re-word that further as "6 semi-pairs at a time". In that case you are really just doing the same thing as you did for 4x4 but focusing on only two of the three middle layers. The biggest problem would be the amount of special cases to learn - for the various locked out situations and other problems.

Instead, I've found it best to consider '6 at a time' as a special case for regular 2-2 chaining. To do it when thigns have fallen into place more naturally or 1 move away from nicely setup.
