TB = Tau Beta. I am a sister in Tau Beta Sigma. Yeah, I am a guy. Good times. Anyway, our center snare was surprised to learn I was rushing. She looked at me with a goofy smile and said, "It's Tau Beta Tyler"
T = Tambourine. You may not believe it, but tambourine is a very difficult instrument to play correctly, and figure 8 thumb rolls are freakin' hard. I learned how to do them consistently, giving me the nickname Tambourine Tyler.
Tyler is (obviously) my name.
One of my friends decided he wanted to keep track of all my nicknames. The first iteration was TBTTyler and I started using that as my username because it was always unique.

It's my last name, but with a "B" instead of an "L", an "r" instead of "o", and a "y" instead of "g". The reason for swapping those letters is pretty significant, but it would take way too long to explain. Maybe I'll post it later. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3025

It's my nickname that my drumline buddies gave me. I play that humongous 32" marching bass drum, and apparently I hit really hard (I hit a hole in the drum during state fair!). It is based of of my real name which starts with tan, but I won't give that out. It was Tannibal for a while, but that sounded like cannibal and hannibal, so I changed that one pretty quick.

Professor cube was the first higher-order cube I ever got. After I got it (read: found it) at Barnes and Noble my parents said I could never solve it. I solved it the next day, and then I joined TP, so I got the name "professorcube5x5".
Now I hate professor cubes from a solving standpoint, and I far prefer 4x4s.

Back when I started posting on forums, I went with the not so clever name of tattooed, or some variation on that. I have over 100 hours of tattoo work, so I guess it fits, however unoriginal it may be.

Puzzlemaster - When I worked as a consultant, my project manager posed a puzzle challenge at our weekly team dinner, and the first person to solve the puzzle had his dinner paid for in full. I won over half of them, even though I did not attend all of the dinners. The project manager gave me the nickname "puzzlemaster".

It means I had trouble thinking of a unique nickname. I think I subconsciously used the "spam, spam, spam, and spam" pattern from that Monty Python sketch.

Mine dates back to a long time ago. I used to be obsessed with many of Atari's old games, such as Tempest, Pong, and Asteroids. The Atarians was one of thier old pinball games as I heard. when I got AIM, whigh i never use now, TheAtarian was taken, and so then I used TheAtarian1, and almost all of my user names have been that ever since.

Not bad. Atari devised a lot of new ideas for their pinball machines, most of which were abysmally bad. The Atarians was one of their few decent tables, and it popularized the 'wide body' pinball machine. Many of their other tables were just amazingly bad, like Middle Earth which seemed to be designed by someone who'd never played pinball and didn't understand the concept. Atari's Hercules probably holds the title for all-time stupidest design concept: make the machine so GIANT the player can barely see over it! (Look at this picture.) So you chose wisely!

Way back in the day when I joined this forum I was nosospeedycuber, which was actually a typo of notsospeedcuber. After I started getting faster, a member of the forum said "You should change your name, maybe to something like El Quicksolve, Speedy McFastfast, or Sune2bSub20."
I chose Speedy McFastfast, and I've used it since then.
On another note, my second most common screen name (and the one most people know me by) is fallofshadows. It's a play of the name "Shadows Fall" which is a band I liked a bunch back in the day. I didn't capitalize it because I didn't use proper grammar back then, but now I keep it lowercased because that's just the way I like it.
