I would like to get into modding cubes, and so I thought it might be best to start with something relative easily... so I figured that it might be somewhat fun making a bandaged cube or two. So I just finished ordering some vinyl sheets from Cubesmith, and thought it might be better to fill the gaps between cubies, because having a bandaged puzzle and with gaps between cubies won't be really appealing, not to mention not strong.
So after doing some research on the forum, it seems like Apoxie Sculpt is one of the favorites here. I read that it is suitable to fill cubies, but is it suitable to fill the gaps between the cubies if used carefully/properly? Also, when it cures, will it be strong enough to hold cubies together very well?
I wanted to ask the forum's opinions before going out onto eBay and spending $25+ for a pound of Apoxie Sculpt, just so I could avoid buying something that seems so expensive and find out that it's not suitable for what I wanted to use it for. Although this seems like it would also have a lot of other uses for things other than puzzles, too!
One last question, which may sound silly, but will 1 pound of Apoxie Sculpt go a long way/accomplish a whole lot? I ask because I remember walking into the hardware store once to buy Goo-Gone to take the residue off the puzzles that I was restickering, and I hesitated to buy it because I had thought to myself "Wow, $6 for a tiny bottle." But it turned out that I've been using that bottle very often for nearly a year now and still have 4/5 of a bottle left over.
Thanks for reading, and I would greatly appreciate inputs! Ben

TomZ nailed it. To prevent any additional questions, you can use normal tubed super glue to bind the cubies.

If you want to glue something together use some glue. So far so obvious. I want to add that you can glue two pieces together and fill the gaps in one single step. I for myself use for bandaging an epoxy resin and everytime a bit more than what is needed for gluing process itself. By doing so the additional glue flows out and fills the gaps between your parts. You have to used some adhesive tape to control the flowing glue.

What I did was i glued two pieces together and filled in the gaps with epoxy sculpt kind of stuff. Then i made a mold of it and made copies. I know i could of just glued all the pieces, but hate that epoxy stuff... I mess up a lot with it.
I doubt its that efficient.

After gluing the pieces together (IPS Weld-On works great BTW), press a thin 'rope' of Apoxie Sculpt into the gap between pieces. Wet it up a little, and smooth it out as much as possible. It's a great product, but sanding it not what you want to spend your time doing.
As for how far a pound (1/2 lb. of each) will get you, it depends on what you're looking to do. It'll be enough to bandage enough cubes until you're completely sick of it, or get you probably 5-6 3x3 mods when filling after cutting the puzzle.

Thanks everyone for your thoughtful answers and inputs! I'll have to go out shopping today to see what materials I can find
