Like the title says - this is my first build, an edges-only Rubik's cube mod, after a week of working on it in my free time it's finished. I used 1/16 in. ABS sheet plastic, scored and snapped, and filled in with Apoxie Sculpt where it needed it. I cut each sticker individually because the pieces aren't exactly alike.
I think I know what NOT to do in the future now (making all of the pieces too big, and sanding them all down to size). :o

How's this for a first mod?

Nice! I like this a lot more than those junk "Look at me I took the corners out of my Rubiks Cube!" Youtube videos.

It's pretty easy to solve?

Thanks!

It's about as difficult as a 2x2, but there's this thing I call an "imaginary edge parity" on the last layer, where it can look like you need to swap 2 edges. It actually just takes a quarter turn of that face to make it a 3-edge swap, but I was really confused the first time it came up. :)

EDIT: Added 2 pictures for Jesse, checkerboard pattern on this one.

Looks nice!

Would you mind doing R2 L2 U2 D2 F2 B2 and then taking a picture?

Thanks for adding the pictures. I love how on this puzzle you can swap the centers on all opposite sides! I may have to try one of these after I finish my current 3 unfinished builds. Maybe when school ends...

do you still have the mechanism parts of the corners in the puzzle?
doing so will make it turn a bit easier and be less likely to lock up.

Looks beautiful. Have you tried to make the corners smaller and sand them more, with a Ā«SmallerĀ» (more fine) sand-paper? It will turn well i think and it will be great to see too.

Very good job at all Smashy!

I truncated each corner to a triangle (with vertices touching the corners of each center), and filled in with Apoxie Sculpt where I cut off too much, so that the corners could fill in the space between the edges better than just leaving the track parts of the corners in. I did my research ;)

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I'm going to try a 2x2 rhombic dodecahedron with an Eastsheen keychain cube next, probably going to fail, but it should be fun if it works :P
