Hello everybody !

I finally get the piece of my Kantikub at the printer today and that's a first assemblage.
I don't have so much time to write a long explaination about how much time I took to come to this and how it works, but I'm sure wou will understand by yourself !
I hope you will enjoy it, I'm working on it since two years. :D

While turning (half turn only):

Moving pieces apart. We can see the simplicity of the system :

The second version (printed in my school) in front of the first on printed at Shapeways. Shapeways didn't respect the precision they announced, so I lost 100€...

The new print has got problems with part B which was missing...

And the stickers (many thanks to Oliver):

I'll finish the puzzle after what I'll probably extend the principle to the 5x5x5 and the Mixup cube ! :o

What was the issue with the print precision?

There are some pieces that are supposed to be embedded thanks to a rail. Shapeways said that their precision was up to 0,2 mm, so I designed the margin in consequences.
Not only the rail couldn't circulate, but they even couldn't embed ! :(

Layers are about 0.1mm thick so there is usually at least one, usually two layers of variation from part to part depending on where there are located in the grid and how they the triangles of your part get aliased by the layers of the printer. Because of this most people use 0.3mm mechanical tolerances. 0.2mm mechanical tolerances will sometimes work but will have a much higher failure rate.

Shapeways will only reprint things that were their fault. This issue doesn't sound like something they would consider their fault.

That's exactly why I consider those 100€ as lost...

That's strange, they work for me. Is that better ?

Ah, I figured out why they weren't working for me.
Very interesting puzzle.
