Sorry if this has been answered before - I'm curious about the obvious difference between the superior MF8 gigaminx and the cube4you version.

What exactly do you think made the MF8 turn so much better. Was it a matter of tolerances? If so, do you think they followed the logic as outlined by others here on the forum as to where to put those tolerances? Was it a matter of springs vs no springs, or at least the tension on the centers?

Just curious, because I'm working on a gigaminx mod in solidworks, and want to get it as smooth turning as possible! I plan to take both of mine apart and compare, but thought I'd get your opinions first.

Thanks!

Wow, tolerances? I have no idea. One of the reasons might be that the mf8 Gigaminx has solid or caped pieces. The once on the C4U were all shelled and open.
Other than that it might have been about anything else too. Including tolerances of any surfaces.

I think the C4U pieces were too flexible. I suspect the exact same molds injected with a denser and stiffer ABS would have worked much better.
