I've been planning to take up modding for a while and spent many hours reading TwistyPuzzle threads, watching videos, reading websites and gathering supplies. I decided on a simple shape mod of a 3x3 for my first effort. I made an octagonal prism. The finished puzzle has it's flaws, but I learned so much, and my next mod will be even better. My octagonal prism works great - better than the donor puzzle! It has cool shape-shifting properties and I'm very happy to add it to my collection.
