Why not a deep-cut FTI and/or a Chopasaurus? (Same puzzle, different shape...)

Well... you could use a hybrid system, maybe? Use magnets to hold the 20 face centers to the core, and then grooves (or non-core-connected magnets?) to hold the other pieces in...
