Have anyone ever made an icosahedral shapemod of a tuttmins like the classical tuttminx from very?

If it doesn´t work, would any1 be so king to explain why to me?

As far as I known I know: There is no icosahedral Tuttminx.
I would not try it: The cuts under the hexagons would meet under the theoretic tips of the finished solid. That means: A simple (?) shape variant is not enough. YOu would have to introduce a totally new type of piece. Requirements like this usually stop every attempt to make a shape variant.

I think it would work with the other Tuttminx though.

As you can see that the tips of the final icosahedron will fall out. The final result of this direct approach will be no better than lifting the pentagonal faces(the size of the pentagons will shrink meanwhile) of the tuttminx. I agree with Andreas that although there are ways to keep those tiny bits in place but needs different parts/mechanism. It is actually equivalent to some deeper cut tuttminx which we will bring up later.

As oBNoo suggested, the curvy one could be a better candidate although it is not quite a vertex-face turning icosahedron.

The Gem III was made into an octahedron by one person on this forum (I don't remember who) by simple extensions, making the cuts non-planar and giving the faces a Star of David pattern. I expect that something similar could be done here.
