This is pretty interesting, but I don't know how challenging it would be to solve. I'll work on this one when I get to play around in solidworks!

Interesting. I'd like to see this made.

This looks like an easy mod of an FTO.

Yep. This is a face turning octahedron with the upper tip chopped off I think :D

IDK why I didn't see that before. 21 hours awake... UGH!

At least all I have to do tomorrow is work.

It needs an additional vertex turn, which is not possible in FTO.

BTW, wrong forum for this topic.

yah, the one where the top doesn't turn is a FTO mod, and fairly simple...
The one where the top does turn is slightly more interesting...

I was actually thinking about designing this. I have a mechanism planned out in my head and on paper and I know how I would design it.

If anyone can get #2 to work, it's not too far from a face & vertex turning octahedron. "FAVTO"?

When I tried to design the mechanism of it, I realised it seems impossible, because the interface of top face turning is on 4 planes but not on 1 plane.

But I got another idea.

Now that's an interesting idea. There are very few puzzles based on that concept.

I think the original idea should still be possible, but that and your new idea are 2 very different puzzles.
