I got a idea of new puzzle. there are 2 types 1. all face can be turned. 2. upper face can't be turned.

This is pretty interesting, but I don't know how challenging it would be to solve. I'll work on this one when I get to play around in solidworks!

Yep. This is a face turning octahedron with the upper tip chopped off I think

yah, the one where the top doesn't turn is a FTO mod, and fairly simple... The one where the top does turn is slightly more interesting...

I was actually thinking about designing this. I have a mechanism planned out in my head and on paper and I know how I would design it.

If anyone can get #2 to work, it's not too far from a face & vertex turning octahedron. "FAVTO"?

When I tried to design the mechanism of it, I realised it seems impossible, because the interface of top face turning is on 4 planes but not on 1 plane.
But I got another idea.

Now that's an interesting idea. There are very few puzzles based on that concept.

I think the original idea should still be possible, but that and your new idea are 2 very different puzzles.
