I finally got around to putting up the pics of the 5x3x3 extended tile cube. I have made two but they are already taken and my third one has been promised to someone as well.
But if you want one made, let me know. That way I'll make a batch up over the next few weeks.

Is an extended cube simply a 3x3x3 with extra cubelets on top and bottom? That would make for some cool shapes, to be sure.

Essentially, you're right, that's what it is. Have a look in my 'Puzzles wanted' section and look up the extended 3x3x3. This is a standard cube with cubies stuck to all six faces.
What I've done is stick cubies to only two faces which allow it to go crazy. But because it is able to do this, certain pieces become exposed so therefore I have to doctor the pieces by filling the gaps with black resin plastic to make them solid pieces.
I'm going to experiment with some other methods soon, but this is the quickest so far and produces some nice results.
It also has a nice solid feel to it.

I'll be putting instructions up very soon to explain how I have made it. It's really not that complicated but it is time consuming.

I have six people who want extended cubes plus 1 special variation on this theme.
These will take a while to make so I think I'll need to limit it at this many people for the time being. If I'm going to make more, I'll post it here.
Thanks, Wayne
