 Post subject: Twist (exactly only) two corner cubies in LL

I've been looking a bit at Lars's approach, mostly the treatment of "bad edges" and I've found myself a several times in a situation where the whole cube is solved except for two corners. (Fixing 2 or 4 bad edges while finishing the last corner pairs of the F2L seems very intuitive :D )

The corners are in the right positions, but they are twisted.
I'm solving this with Sune*,Sune* then re-position the edges.

I could probably make the two-twisted corners happen often, but the solve from there is a bit long. Is there a short sequence?


*I'm not yet positive it is Sune or Sunething else : RUR' UR U2R'

This is the position. From a solved cube L2 U B2 D' B U B2 D B2 U' B L2 U'

When the 2 LL faces are on the front face, its easy, 2 sune.

When the 2 faces are on the right and left sides, rotating the cube so that the front and LL sides switch then its back to situation 1.

Hmm, is your 2nd post an answer or is the question still open? How exactly do you do the two "Sunes"?

Hi Andrew,

The sune rotates three corners and swaps three edges around. I do it sort of backwards from the way Lars does it.

With the rotated corners on the left do L' U2 L U L' U L R U2 R' U' R U' R' Which to me is a left handed reverse sune followed by a right handed reverse sune.

Or you can do the classic "undo to one what you do to the other": with the rotated corners on the front do: R' D R F D F' U' F D' F' R' D' R U.

I haven't yet found a shorted sequence which preserves the corner position, but if you don't ind moving the corners around: with the rotated corners on the front do: R' U' F' U F R.

The second post was a bit of a :idea: answer or "doh!".

I'm doing this: RUR' UR U2R'

I've been playing with it a bit; doing that, then repeating it mirrored on the left. I use use my left hand to mirror moves so I don't need to learn 2.

RUR' UR U2R'
L'U'L U'L' U2L (should be reflection of first)

Then change your top face to the other face with two usolved corners and use the solved face as the right face, the old top on the left.

Repeat the same moves and its solved again. Sort of blah in the end :S




I'm looking at R' U' F' U F R , but it flips edges. I'm trying fixing the bad edges during the F2L, but that may not last.

It looks like a replacement for RUR' F'U2F RU'R which I normaly use it swap oposite corners. :D :D

Is there a better swap 2 than RUR' F'UF RU'R (swap adjacent corners).

How about (R U R' U') (R' F R F') or its inverse?

Or (L U') (R' U) (L' U' R) which is a simple commutator (minus the first U) to cycle 3 corners, so it has no side effects on other pieces.

Try R U2 R' L' U R U' L R' U' R U' R' which doesen't flip edges.

I often use that one *for that case*

For swapping opposite corners upright try (R U' L U2 R' U L') *2.

I think that what you're looking for is:
F R' F' L F R F' L'
