I am proud to say I have finally solved Eitan's Star! I spent the last week solving the Bauhinia first. Working for 10-15 minutes at a time over several days, I gradually came to understand this beast. I immediately picked up Eitan's Star and used all the same strategies. I found Eitan's Star to be much more difficult in the block building stage for some reason. Compared to the Bauhinia, I had a very difficult time visualizing what I needed to do. The rest was about equal in my opinion. Setup moves, as others have said, are a pain, but thankfully I did not have any disastrous screwups.

I did not use tutorials, though I did look at rline's general solve order for the Bauhinia beforehand. Reading through this thread, though, it seems I could greatly improve my solve time. There are some truly brilliant solvers and algorithm finders on this forum!

Unrelated to solving but related to the puzzle. Tomorrow I start reassembling the Eitan's Star I took apart today. It appears that it will be a very straightforward assembly with no really difficult or fiddly parts and most likely no explosions causing me to start assembly all over. I am going to record every bit of it for you all so those that wish to take a bit of time can have no worries about whether they will ever get it back together if they choose to disassemble it or have had it pop horribly. I estimate my reassembly will take no longer than one hour!

I solved it! This was one of the most challenging puzzles I've ever done; I'm super stoked that I managed to solve it.

Interestingly enough, I think the Bauhinia was harder for me. After learning the Bauhinia, it was ridiculously easy to translate everything from that puzzle into this one. The only thing I did differently with Eitan's star was that I wrote down my setup moves. I have a pretty good memory for solving (years and years of memorizing things in theater), but I didn't want to take any chances at all with this puzzle. I had one minor mistake that set me back about an hour of solving, so I was very careful after that.

Definitely the most enjoyable puzzle I've ever solved. Major props to Eitan for creating this monster, you've brought great joy to my puzzle collection. Perhaps someday it will be time to take on Eitan's Nebula...

SOLVED! I used my method for the Bauhinia (courtesy of rline's tutorial) and translated it directly to the Star, it worked beautifully and after about seven cycles of messing up the wide triangles on the top and then fixing them, I cycled all the little triangles and then the centers and I was done. What a magical feeling! Cheers, my friends.

I finally did it. :D :D I used no external assistance not even rline's tutorial. I reconfigured my bauhinia dodecahedron sequences and after time at least five screw ups I was finished. What a tortuous yet amazing puzzle.
