I am able to solve the entire puzzle, up until I have one small 2x2 square left unsolved. It is really bugging me. Any pointers? I couldn't find any solutions or tutorials online.
Thanks,
Zackz115

Orientated? Permutated? A photo would help..
1 piece?
Cheers,
Burgo.

I think that a helpful sequence would be for swapping 2, 3, or 4 of the triangular pieces that are between the 2 corner pieces of a square face, and for swapping 2 adjacent corners on a square face.

Neither actually. Managed to solve everything put one square which needs both the triangle and diamond pieces in place. Any algs. ?

Hi zackz115,

I see what you mean, I solved it with a large face as the U layer, and for the sake of a description let's call a `square face` F, and two adjacent larger faces R & L. The sequences for both triangles and corners are pure.

Triangles:
(FR'F'R)x5 makes a 3cycle of the little triangles.
Corners:
I just used a very simple commutator. I don't remember exactly which version I preferred, but the format was of the form:
(F'LFL') R (LF'L'F) R'

You should be able to solve yours with those and just F rotations :) . I hope I got those right, I'm just thinking off the top of my head from a few months back, I never wrote anything down and didn't solve it much because mine's a bit catchy.

Cheers,
Burgo.

I now have the corners in place. I am a little confused about what you mean by versions.

EDIT: Used my 3x3 alg.s Solved t!! Thanks Burgo!

No problem, I'm sure others are either doing the same thing or have better ways. I just haven't played with it enough to really get down a smooth method. But, you really don't need any sequences until the last bit. The little triangles can have a 3cycle disguised as a `swap`, but that's easy to figure out. Others have reported smooth mechanisms but mine is `catchy` on the square face, is yours like that?

By `versions` I mean:
(F'LFL') R (LF'L'F) R'
can be:
(F'LFL') R' (LF'L'F) R
for example.
You can change it around any way you like.

Cheers,
Burgo.

Well I'm going back to this. Help please. the pic shows the alg i use which switches 3 pieces in a clockwise motion. these are the only 2 left. not sure how to apply my alg to this, but i would rather this than learn a new one if possible.
thanks,
zack

This is the standard standard parity you get on puzzles where an even number of pieces (like 4) can be cycled (which is an odd cycle). Twist that square face a quarter turn counter-clockwise and it will solve one corner and break three.

Now you have three broken corners and your 3-cycle will fix them.

Yes it will break those small triangles but you'll just have to deal with that however you normally would.

With the side in question held in the up position, try holding the puzzle with the corners that need to be swapped to the right, and the do:
R U Ri U R 2U Ri 2U.
This will place one of the corners from the side down and to the right into the side you're working on, so then turn the puzzle counterclockwise to place the misplaced corner to the right and up (with the side that you took the corner from now back and to the right), then do:
Ri Ui R Ui Ri 2U R.
This should swap those two corners, but cause chaos with your middle triangles.
It's to crazy it just might work!
