Is today the day??? I have a hard enough time staying out of puzzle sites while I'm at work already, but I have a feeling today is going to be particularly bad.

It's not even 666. The real 666 was 2000 years ago.

the 6/6/06 comes every hundred years. today was the only day I wrote the date on my papers at school. normally I don't keep track. Was anyone else running around wishing everyone a happy 6/6/06?

hehehe. The 6-6-06 has comited his crime:
I was going to play basketball with my brother with the car, and another guy hit my car with his one...
It was not a big crash, but his car was totally damaged. Mine have the back door broken...
6-6-06 on the power. hehehehh

It doesn't really matter. It's just an excuse to play with puzzles. While listening to Slayer. Loud enough to share with all of my co-workers who tolerate my eccentricities.
Currently listening to: "Raining Blood"

Call me slow but I never heard 666 associated with the devil mean anything together. What does this mean? Please explain below. First I heard of this was from a book called Weird America and they have a highway or innerstate that is called 666 and the people are trying to change the name. I got the book last christmas. I love weird books.

You have probably never read the book of revelations in the bible. It's pretty interesting. It talks about the end of the world and how there will be a war between some places in the world. when the war is over there will be a peace treaty. Then something about the seven seals. with like seven of a lot of other things. then everyone who is christian will suddenly dissapere. everyone else is left on earth. the devil will come up and torcher everyone here on earth. People will be forced to worship him and those that do will have the numbers 666 written on the back of their hand. anyone who doesn't have that on them will be punished. 666 is the devils number. have you ever heard the song "the number of the beast"?

For those who are curious, the number of the beast is at the end of Revelations 13. If you don't have a Bible, and want to look it up online, you can go to http://www.biblegateway.com/ and they have a few different translations you could look at.
If anyone has questions, I'm not not a Bible expert, but I'll try my best to help you.

about the chip
http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/mondex.asp
About the Bush family and a one world government... Well, it's a bigger moonbat theory than just them. It includes just about every president of the U.S. (except Kennedy, that's why he was killed) and the British Royal Family. Usually this story is told as the New World Order. It includes secret societies, no moon landing, mind control experiments, aliens, FEMA being the real underground government, and anything else that can be piled on. Oh yeah, and it's all being funded through NASA and the war on drugs. I love arguing opinions, but conspiracy theorists are impossible to go against. All questions you ask them are answered with another question, usually cui bono? or to that effect. Any evidence to counter their claims is labeled as A. only part of the cover-up; or B. being disinformation put out by the government to make it look like a crazy conspiracy theory. Either way it's always evidence proving their theory. Beware of anyone claiming to know "The Truth", especially if they have a pamphlet and encourage you to "educate yourself". Of course, I may just be a government plant attempting to keep you a "sheep".
I do keep my tinfoil hat nearby, just in case they're right.
This topic is waaaaay off topic now. Back to waiting for the 6x6x6.

This particular thread was way off topic from my very first reply to it.
Far as I'm concerned the day isn't over until I'm awake for the next day, which I haven't had a chance to do yet. I'm at work at the moment, monitoring a server I just drove in to perform emergency recovery procedures on. NOW I get to go home.
Last Slayer song for the day: "God Hates Us All."
Classic.

As far as I can remember, it can be interpreted as either, depending on how you translate Nero's name.
616 is how the christians spoke of the caesar. They converted his name into numbers and used that as a kind of secret code instead.
Somewhere along the lines, the name was mistranslated and when converted changed to the ever popular - 666.
It still doesn't mean anything though
And 2006 was actually four years ago. (Or six, depending on who you belive) Changing to the current calender, someone made some numerical mistakes.
I think that's right....

Hey, 2006 may be even longer ago than that
In first place, we have the Jews : 5766
And next are the Chinese : 4703
Finally we're at 2006.

I agree, and sorry for posting something off-topic here.
I thought this topic was going to be about the rumor that yesterday was the 6x6x6 release date. It seemed puzzle-related at the time...
Turns out it was really about Slayer. Who knew?

I don't put much stake in calendar days. Not even my birthday or major holidays for that matter. The whole 6/6/6 national day of slayer was just an excuse to listen to Slayer like I normally might but a bit louder and more annoying to my co-workers, some who got into the spirit of it. Nothing quite like a middle aged conservative office lady in the accounting department headbanging and holding up the sign. \m/

Slipknot heavier than Slayer?! Eh? What?
I'm a fan of both bands (and I'm going to see Slayer again this November! Yays!) but Slayer'll get your ears bleeding first. Slipknot are more accessable, which shouldn't be seen as a bad thing. Slayer have never made the UK chart, which the 'Knot have, tho'. And the 18-legged hate machine puts on one hell of a show! Slayer gigs always end in tears. Avoid the pit!
Anyways, on the subject of the mark of the Beast. In Hebrew, the number 666 corresponds to the letters 'www', so if you're really supersticious about this stuff, you should even be surfing! In Greek: X=600, E=60 and S=6. Does that mean 'safe' sex isn't?
There is a school of thought that to protect one's self from demonic posession, you should wear an inverted cross for 666 hours after the end of 6/6/06 (which, incidentally, is 18.00 on July 4th). Anyone know the details/origins of this? Sounds a bit far-fetched to me!
