Does anyone here use skype (http://www.skype.com)?
Before I download it, I was wondering if it does what it says?

I have had Skype for about 5-6 days now as it means I can call home without actually having to pay anything!

I have found it to work fine and do what it promised but then I'm only using it to call between other computers with skype, which is completley free I don't know how the system works for sending/recieving external (not internet) calls.

The only thing is that if you dont want everyone to be able to call you you're going to have to change the privacy options - the default is that anyone else with skype can see your online/talk to you .

I have skype. I use it not very often as I don't like it very much. Sure, you can call for free other skype users, but the connection is sometimes pretty bad, that I really prefer to pay for the phone having a good connection. I think, it depends on the internet speed you and the other person have how it works. Today it worked really good in my opinion. My father (he phoned me) said the oposite. Just try it out and you'll see. It has good and bad sites.
And the privacy: Everyone can call me, but till now nobody I didn't know called, so who cares about it.

I personally love skype. It's worth checking out.
