Adventures of Lolo Series for old school nintendo.
Lolo III, has to be one of the most difficult games I have ever beaten (without any cheats either)

My girlfriend loves the Lolo games but I have yet to play any of them. If you want another fun and challenging strategy/puzzle-type game I would recommend "Solomon's Key" for old school nintendo.
