So, my grandfather died today. He was not a twisty puzzler, but still a puzzler, and more so a fighter. He had cancer, but a quick surgery fixed that. It was the complications due to the surgery that ended his long and meaningful life on the Earth. After over 5 months in the hospital, he was ready to go to a rehabilitation place to recover from the immobility of his left side, but the day before he was set to go there, he got pneumonia. A week later, earlier today to be exact, he passed away. But my family is not sad, because he has ended his nearly half a year of suffering, and is with my grandmother in heaven celebrating the best life possible. He was a marine in the Vietnam war, and he saved the life of his commander by going behind enemy lines, lowering him down a 50-foot cliff, calling off an air strike that would have killed all of his men, and he also got shot while doing it! He received a bronze star, but his commander knew he should have received a silver star. His commander was by his side yesterday, and they reminisced about the war. So today, one of the best men alive, is no longer alive.

I rejoice with you in the hope you have expressed here, young man. May you and your family share many happy memories of your grandfather. Did you know your grandmother?

Yes, until I was 10 in 2010. She died a little bit after thanksgiving, but I wasn't up to date with her progress, so I didn't see it coming. At least both of my mom's parents are still around! And thanks to all of you for your empathy. I really appreciate it.
