Hi,
I keep bees with my dad, and I single hive has now grown into 3. But this morning, one hive swarmed, meaning another queen had been produced and had left the hive.
Video will be up later.
Does anyone else keep or manage bees?
Robert

Yep, I moved up closer to them, not on video, and the noise heard is quite amazing. I really am still a novice but I'm learning Robert

My parents keep bees.
About a month ago one of their hives started to swarm, the family split up into 3, so they have been very productive in making queens.
My dad only caught one of the two swarms, so instead of the 3 hives they had now they have 4 hives in their garden (could have been 5)
Cool video by the way.

Thanks Hendrik,
We started bee keeping again last year with 1 hive, we then created an artificial swarm as the hive filled up, and moved the new queen to the new hive. After repeating the process w nore time we ended up with 3 hives bringing in an obscene amount of honey.
But yesterdays swarm was completely natural.
Thanks Robert

My Uncle raised honey bees in his backyard in Baton Rouge when I was a kid. I distinctly remember eating the rich, dark Louisiana honey, and also once I chewed on a piece of beeswax. Good stuff! Sadly, a few years later, a blight killed off the queens and, my Uncle retired from his beekeeping hobby soon thereafter. Off-Topic: One thing I have to note, that while humans use squares to build their domiciles, bees and other insects use hexagons. Hexagons are far more efficient when it comes to packing circles!
