Well, this sucks. Yup. Seller is gone, all items deleted from his page.

Don't get too rash with this everyone. Although at this point we are virtually positive it was all a scam; we don't actually have a case to file a dispute over until the time comes when our products were supposed to arrive. Yes that's a long time, but we all knew that risk coming in, and if (when) the items don't come in, eBay will refund us themselves, then go to get money from the scammer.

I would like to point out that I have already opened a dispute with ebay and paypal. Paypal themselves automatically upgraded my claim from contact for refund to a claims case. To me this means that this seller already has plenty of badness going on with his paypal account for paypal to auto-upgrade my claim without even attempting to contact him.

When checking in ebay.com it says this with the sold items:

This listing was removed by eBay. If you already paid for the item, we recommend that you wait 10 days from the expected delivery date to see if the item arrives. If you did not pay,you are no longer obligated to pay for this item. If you have a problem with the purchase, you can resolve the problem by filing a claim through our resolution center.

I suggest waiting the ten days, otherwise ebay is most likely just going to come back to you telling you to wait the ten days.

To add: all my tracking numbers are now active. We'll see.

Yes that means they are working. I use this one since 17track is not giving anything useful either other than for me knowing the numbers are working:

My tracking code still does not work, I opened a Paypal-dispute, and hope to get my money back.
And I reported an other seller to eBay : http://www.benl.ebay.be/sch/alespris_jx ... 1438.l2654

Hello all,

I also ordered 3 cubes from this seller.
As the store and listings have been removed by Ebay, I have opened a case for all three cubes.
I received a prompt reply from the seller. The tracking numbers that I received already a week ago didn't work until now, but now that I have filed a complaint they magically appeared. According to the details, the Bejing post office received the packets (or envelopes?) this morning.

For now it's just a matter of waiting. It normally takes 1 to 2 weeks to the Netherlands.

PS: not a nice topic for a first post :(

I think his speedy recluse from Ebay either has to do with him discovering our topic our the fact that he is actually going to come through but all items were in fact stolen and he is trying to disappear before h he is arrested.

Gentlemen, can you please control your speculation. I've watched this post go from "upper management at Mf8 etc. to a bought out warehouse and now to stolen goods"
If you have no proof of any of your speculations, please keep them to yourselves. This may be a legitimate businessman and your posting unfounded accusations could cause him great harm. Why don't we all just calm down and wait until you have something to complain about.
Set your alarms for 40 days after your purchase and put in your claim. But remember, buyer beware. These auctions were too good to be true, and yet you took the chance. So now wait and see.

I think this guy is already wanted by the FBI for murder and is selling fake puzzles to support his life on the run, and plotting to grow dolphins with bombs attached to them that he will train to swim up rivers and detonate in major US cities. Quick, someone tell eBay!

mofang2013 is no longer a registered eBay user and all of his sales have been pulled. I'm not sure if this is because he actually scamming or if it was due to a number of people reporting him to eBay out of speculation (which happens quite often).

I have 4 active tracking numbers from him and am not going to report anything to eBay or PayPal until I see what actually shows up.

If it turns out that this wasn't a scam then everyone who reported him to eBay out of speculation should be ashamed.

As far as some tracking numbers not working yet, this is a common occurrence with these postal tracking numbers out of HK and China. I ordered a Lattice Cube from Calvin on the 17th and received a tracking number from him on the 20th. It is still not turned on either. Those of us who order lots of puzzles from China and/or HK know that this is just standard, especially for this busy time of the year. Anyone who reported this seller to eBay and PayPal due to this really jumped the gun.

If you have paid for the item, eBays own instructions state to wait 10 days from the expected delivery date. For mine the expected delivery window was from January 3 to the 17 which means that I should not report anything until at least the 27th. We have 45 days to start the dispute process with PayPal. Anyone who prematurely filed a dispute is in violation of this rule.

If you have a tracking number then you should at least wait to see what arrives before filing a dispute.

^ Exactly. For all we know it is (was) completely legit, and such impulsive actions may have ruined the opportunity for everyone.

If I may interject,
There is another seller on eBay giving the sellers name is as good as giving the link. Please do not do this in future. who has similar deals on puzzles. They have not removed their puzzles yet, so I have ordered multiple of them.
Due to the fact that they sell mostly KOs, I will not include the link to the seller's page.

How do I get my tracking number now, since the items were removed from eBay? I always just clicked on •Track Package•

When I heard that he'd become a non-registered member of ebay, my first thought was "scam", but then I wondered whether he had just sold everything he wanted to sell, posted it all, and had no more reason to be on ebay. I admit it's not particularly likely, but it's certainly possible. If the tracking numbers work, then the buyers just need to wait and see what shows up. It's frustrating, but it's a risk we took when purchasing. Time will tell.

I'm just wondering why he would use PayPal if it was a scam knowing we could all easily get our money back. If it is a scam, PayPal seems like the worst form of payment to take.

Hello.
I have a bad news.
I have win a bidding of Petaminx in mofang2013's store.
And today I have got it.

Image

It is not the Petaminx. It is a kind of fashion jewel.
I think, its cost is not more than a dollar.
Please advise me to get my money back.
Many thanks.

Well ebay sure does make you jump through hoops to try to get something canceled/make a claim. Having not used the service in a long time I was hoping that wasn't still the case. Much to my surprise they are still a pain to try to get any answers from.

If it takes too long for them to respond just make sure to file the claim over at paypal in time.

For those who don't know:

go to the paypal purchase overview
go to the actual purchase
way in the bottom there should be a link to click if there is trouble.

Yes, we should wait for the delivery, those are ebay's policies to follow, ebay will tell you to wait if you contact them now anyway.

And no you cannot use another person's purchase result, only your own.

The process of claiming a refund can be a pain. If you have doubts about a seller then listen to that little voice in your head that's telling you something is wrong and steer clear of them altogether-stick with sellers you know. I know the lure of super cheap puzzles can be strong. :)

Ebay has "banned" this seller, not only because of the complains opened by people worried with the amazing deals and the possibility of being a fraud but also and more due to some feeback of multiple buyers claiming that they received a red seed in a string, Budha chaim in a string, etc...

Well my tracking number is working and it seems that something is coming from China to Brazil, time to cross my fingers and hope that is a Budha chaim in a string and not a seed of this "kind of fashion jewel" such as this one user TEP just reported to us

TEP can you tell us when have you winning this Petaminx Auction/BID that
you just received and end up as a real Scam ?

This mofang2013 sold 2200 or more ANDROID TVs in less than a week, sure this is something that concerned Paypal and Ebay as they have to send information to Customs and Goverments all over the world regarding to big sales that were made thought then.

Here at Brazil there is a goverment's department to check internet sales and charge taxs over then. They ask big auction's web sites to give then information regarding this sales.

CSETE you can open a case both at Ebay's and at Paypal

if you check your purchases at Ebay you will see a RESOLVE A PROBLEM just below the deleted products you just brought from this fellow...

Good luck guys, maybe some lucky will in fact receive some puzzle as he seems to had old positive feedback of legitm puzzles he had sold.

There is a second seller pointed in this thread with similar deals and the products images are similar too... maybe is another user of mofang2013... or other person...

Back when I sold a bunch of things on Ebay, I would get a lot of money in on Paypal. When you first start out, they hold your money for 30 days or so before it's released so you can withdraw it to another account. After a few months or a certain number of transactions or some other metric, they realize you are probably a good standing person and start allowing the money to be available the next day. They do however reserve the right to freeze your account or reinstate the 30 days if they see any abnormal activity.

My guess is the person set up the account. Had a bunch of legit transactions to the point that the money gets released the next day. During the holiday season, it's common for accounts to have spikes in sales, so it's likely Paypal would consider this spike to be normal and not lock up the account. Then if the person's timing is good, they withdraw the money before it gets locked up from complaints, and close the account that is tied to Paypal and vanish into the night. So it could conceivably end up that Paypal loses out on the money - they would still refund everyone and just have to call it a loss and send it to their fraud department or whatever and hope to catch the guy.

Hello,

It's very strange, because he's still answering my messages. So he didn't vanish.

I opened a claim on eBay asking for money back, and he answered this:

Seller's message to you:
"Hello dear friends! Goods has been sent. Been on the road you can query. Ebay let me resolve the dispute and I am anxious. Probably 15-25 working days to receive you please cancel complaint I really appreciate. Wish you and your family happy. Everything liking. happy every day."

I have bought 4 petaminx for $18 each.

I'll ask him information about the parcel weight.

Why did you get 4 petaminxes? I only got 2 because I'm going to do a certain mod to the other one if it is a legitimate product. Are you going to make a triple fused petaminxes with them? It isn't on Tony's list of approved puzzles you can copy, probably because it was only now that someone else would buy 3 petaminxes.

Where is this list? Why would he not want us to copy his designs for our own personal use?

It's not an issue if he is only making it for his personal use. If he sold that puzzle however, then it would be a problem.

The list is on his website here.http://tonyfisherpuzzles.net/F%20Copying%20my%20puzzles.html
It is probably so that other people can still make cool puzzles, but only certain ones so that Tony can still sell all of the ones he makes and those will be the only existing ones. I hope this clarifies things for you.

On his website it specifically says:

So atm, this isn't any issue we need to worry about.

I have come to a conclusion about twisty puzzles in general. It is both amazing and sucks at the same time. There are so many new things to explore and at the same time there are so many new things to explore. It is really fun to just jump in and yet really scary to just jump in because of the amount of things to learn. Both a joy and a curse. :D

I'll ask him information about the parcel weight.

Instead, why not get straight to the point: Send him a copy of Tep's picture above and ask him to explain it. See if he still responds to your messages. If not then it is clear he is trying to string you along.

please cancel complaint I really appreciate.

DO NOT CANCEL YOUR COMPLAINT!
One a complaint is cancelled with paypal it cannot be reopened! The seller obviously knows this and is trying to catch people out by being friendly and sending tracking information.

Again, if you cancel your claim for any reason it cannot be reopened and you cannot open another one for the same item.

Leave the complaint open until the parcel arrives, respond to paypal requests and if they ask why you are not closing the claim etc let them know.

I have Opened a case with PayPal for both these items and an MF8 Teraminx.
I'll take my share of the blame for this Scam!
Sorry Cubers. Looks like we have all been scammed.

I bought the items on 19th, 20th and 21st. I have received the fist two items as above. I am in the UK England. Because he sent jewellery in an envelope it got here much quicker than a parcel would. It dosen't weigh as much.
He shipped them the next day for each puzzle.
